NBA 2K17 Remains a Solid Buy

NBA 2K has been considered the gold standard of sports games. Every other sports game has been judged against 2K's overall quality over the past couple of years.

This year, NBA 2K17 isn't much different.

Initially I gave the game a 9.0, which qualifies as an all-time classic on our scoring scale.

There's a lot to like about this year's game, but more than a month after release and with the NBA season just beginning, it's worth taking a look at the game again to see if it still holds up to those initial lofty impressions.

Absolutely.

A new physics engine adds a new layer of strategy and physicality to the game.

Animations are blending well.

Games are dynamic and playing against the CPU feels fantasticc. Even better with an edited roster and on point sliders.

Some bugs, but hopefully they are ironed out.

Aesthetically, the slimmer body types look great. Although plenty of players need to be thinner (eg Dirk, Porzingis, Parsons).

Basketball fans can be thankful our sport gets a product this good.

6/10 for a current state. Worsened defence in all areas since 2k16, numerious problems with shooting, unituitive menus, OP badges, list goes on.

Bruh.....I'm shleep...you can't even get all 5 people on a consistent basis to make it in to pro am, or walk on pro am and you think this is worthy of an all time classic?

When 2k stops allowing these then we can open up the conversation again...

It takes the worst parts about 16 and builds on them.

Whoever wrote this is surely entitled to their opinion. It just seems odd that there's no evidence the author has paid any attention to the community feedback in the official OS 2K17 Impressions thread.

If he hasn't, then the post is nothing more than his impression, among the many.

If he has read the thread and chooses to pretend all that feedback doesn't exist, then how is this an even an OS community article? If his opinion differs, he should at least acknowledge the existence of the overwhelming majority of people who explicitly do not experience the game as he does, and maybe explain why his opinion is different.
