Wow, I've only played two games and holy crap does this game feel like soccer. The ball coming off the foot, reception of passes, dribbling, long balls, low bending through balls to the box by the AI (where I don't feel cheated), and I could go on. It's a beautiful looking game as well with the player emotions and cutscenes. It's just so much more organic and "anything can happen" than the feeling I get from FIFA. Sadly with 10 minute games I can't play the style I want. I'm one of those guys that likes 15 or 20 minute halves with the ability to take my time and set things up. Hell I'd play 45 if the game was realistic enough that stats and goals were at a realistic rate.

I do have two dislikes though. Fouls is still one of them. It's only two games but I don't think the referee calls them properly and the handing out of cards seems quite poor so far. I shouldn't complain too much due to fouls being non existent the past versions. I'm used to FIFA though where fouls are done pretty well now after a couple years of having the same issue PES did. I like in FIFA that aggressive bumps are called and referees are dynamic in that they call some fouls that were nowhere near anything close to a foul. That human error element is great. I haven't seen bumps called yet in the two games I've played. Hopefully those pop up the more I play the demo.

The 2nd thing I don't like and once again it's probably because I'm used to FIFA, is the shooting. It's not how the ball is kicked by the player or anything mechanical, but it's just something about the way the ball goes through the air and also when it hits the back of the net, that I don't like. It's hard to explain but it's I guess more cosmetic than gameplay related.

I'm probably going to have to buy both games this year. Having the Premier League license in FIFA is just something that automatically sells me that game, as much as I hate to say it. Also sliders (I wish PES had them) definitely help rectify some of the issues that FIFA has. It's obviously nice being on PS4 with the editor that lets us share. That at least helps with the licensing issues a little bit. It's just sad that I can't play at the real Stamford Bridge.

Re: PES 2017 Demo Available on Xbox One, PS4, PS3 - Post Your Impressions

weird bug.

I am upping a video now.

I powered up A on a goal kick to hit a hard low pass up the right inside of the pitch.

Instead the ball went directly left to the Barca player standing all alone who shot it into the empty goal.

So of course next goal kick I try it again and same thing.

Shame really, up until this point, about 15 min into the 1st half I was thoroughly enjoying weathering the constant barca onslaught. It was nil nil when this happened.

sample size was 20 minutes of 1 match.

After the 2nd one went in I recorded it and quit the demo and upped the vid.

*Here is what I did, I aimed slightly inside right to the target near the halfway line that would be able to receive a hard low pass. I pressed A at full power. Then watched the ball shoot off into a completely different direction.

twitted to bhatti

All you need to do to understand how long it's been since PES was a viable option is to look at the start dates of most of the members posting in this thread...lol!

Damn...it's like OS circa 03-08!

This Demo is fantastic. They have nailed the pace of play and this feels more like the sport then any other sport game I have played. Fifa has rubbed me raw the last couple of years feeling like it was a constant battle to get you players (especially defensive) to do what you want. Not to mention the back and for nausea inducing gameplay while usually feeling that goals let in were complete garbage and the game messing with your players such as running away from the threat just at the moment you need it snuffed out. This game on the other hand just feels so right. When goals are let in I am never frustrated with the game for it. Every time it has felt like either it was my fault or realistic tactics/occurences. Such a relief. I can't believe I have stuck with the other game for so long and was planning on skipping footy all together this season until this demo just rocked my world. Day one buy for me.

I was thinking the same. EA need to take note, though I doubt they will.

This is shaping up to be the year where EA's gimmicks - presentation, stadiums, licenses - just don't matter to me as much as fantastic football.

We'll see.
