Well yeah considering he had the 21st best era in the majors. Around 18th seems about right...

That's what I am saying, some other determination went into the ratings other than just the average of 3 years worth of stats. If I had to guess they are trying to project regression and docked Wainwright a few points for age.

In the past I don't think they weighted all 3 years evenly. The previous season was like 50% and then 25, 25 or something like that. It explains why someone like Arrieta and Keuchel are rated so much higher than a Wainwright. I'm not sure if they are still doing it that way though.

They said this year that the past three years were weight evenly this year. They also said that they would throw out years out where someone was obviously injured.

I am not making that big of deal out of it because Wainwright's rating is still good but it confuses me when his past 3 year stats are equal or better than those pitchers ranked higher. .

The past 3 years thing is kind of stupid. AJ Pollock was much better last season than McCutchen and is expected to put up the same numbers this season. David Peralta should undoubtedly be a top 10 LF/RF. He only led the NL in triples while hitting over .300 and driving in nearly 80 runs, and had a near .900 OPS. He also had a very solid rookie season, so it is not the first year he's done well.

I understand why they do it though, it is so that one anomalous season, good or bad, does not skew a players rating too much.

Not a single Brave on the list. It's going to be a long year. Glad I can start from my saved Franchise from 2014 before they traded everyone away.

So 3 of the top 6 SS are guys who have barely played half a season? Doesn't that seem a little silly?
