I consider it in the same vain as purchasing Training points or money for franchise budget. They are there if you want to use it but you are under no obligation to do so.

Some of the perks I don't mind.

Ball in the air/ground you can reason they are just like the influence mechanic. Even the "Strong Wrists" are somewhat realistic and you can reason that they are a personal trait of your player, though I think being guaranteed successful check swings is kind of dumb, and a perk that increases your success rate or makes checking easier instead of guaranteed is a much better idea.

Perks where you are just given a hitters count, or all pitches are being thrown in the zone or or all pitches are fastballs are complete garbage. They cannot be reasoned and just add to the cartoony direction this franchise has been heading down the past few years.

Sure it's optional, but these gimmicky cartoon features are piling up, while the more realistic options are being toned down or removed completely.
