Having played online I haven't seen 3s in 2k that players take that curry wouldn't take or wouldn't have the chance to make. Curry irl has very poor shot selection but his skill allows it to go unnoticed, so no one can cheese 3s with Curry. He is cheese irl which shows how ridiculous he is as a player. Now if other players can hit Curry like 3s then I understand the complaints, but don't make me grab the Curry highlights and show that he's not cheese in 2k lol.

It's not poor shot selection if you make them. Heh. Especially if you make them at a rate more accurately on higher volume than anyone in history.

Curry takes a few heat checks though, but I think Klay Thompson actually has worse shot selection. Klay will tend to take shots out of rhythm of the offense more consistently, whereas Curry's shot taking combined with his ball handling and play making actually creates gravity and opens up the offense.

Didn't get through the whole thread, but I've got a question about the mention of making it harder to play guys out of position. I really hope theres a secondary position stat this year that is actually used. In MyCareer, I joined the Bulls as a SG, and Butler got moved to 6th man instead of sliding over to SF just because his position is officially SG. Never mind that his natural position is SF and he played SF his first 3 seasons. Instead I've got to deal with McDermott starting even though Jimmy is 4 or 5 points better overall than he is. Drives. Me. Crazy. Once you hit star status you really need to be able to meet with the coach more often and suggest these things to him. I know it's not MyGM but damn we need a little more influence in MyCareer.

I just thought of a question.

Is there a separate hall of fame rating for big man passing ability?

I've always tried to figure out the perfect ratings to get bigs to pass like Boris Diaw, Marc Gasol and Vlade Divac, however either they're avereging to many assist (Almost Pg numbers) or theyre not able to make the great passes they do in real life

Re: An In-Depth Look at the Changes to the NBA 2K16 Ratings System

Just read thru this thread and man did it take a turn! Ridiculous!

Anyways, I love this! I always thought 99 should be meant for HOF players and scale down from there. Who cares about overalls?! All I care about are if speed edits are scaled properly where Duncan can't sprint past d rose on a fast break. Or Matt bonner can't stay in front of James harden. All I want is guys to feel and play like themselves. I'm glad to hear gone are the days of Dwight hitting 15 foot jumpers or 90% with fadeaways.

Its awesome 2k decided to go this route and think outside the box and not worry about marketing over inflated ratings to sell their game. They want their rosters to be as sim as their game! It's also great to hear the roster team and gameplay team worked hand in hand. We all know some ratings have different effects in game. Madden and Rex just said a few days ago that sim rosters wouldn't work in madden?! Lol what?! I love that 2k isn't afraid to do things like this which is what separates them from competition IMO. And what's also great and HUGE for me is it sounds like playbooks, defensive strategies, and ratings have all been redone for classic teams. In years past every part of classic teams were really bad from ratings, play types, playbooks, etc. it was virtually unplayable for me without it completely being re edited and playbooks and play types redone. I'm looking forward to checking out my 96 sonics and 87 lakers!

I said before but with these roster changes with spread ratings finally and the ability for czar and OG to update plays and defensive settings I think I will just stick with 2k roster updates all year for the 1st time ever! How nice will that be?!

Thanks beds!

Exactly!! I love how 2K is aiming for sim basketball out of the box. Trying to accurately mimic the sport as best they can in videogame form by bringing as many real life concepts to it as possible. However, they give us the tools to arcade the game up all we want. Sim, arcade, neither one is the "wrong" choice, we all want different things out of our gaming experience and 2K at least provides that. Football is my favorite sport but Madden is so far behind in this department that I am just indifferent towards the title. I don't care about wishlists or even commenting on it anymore. Just wake me when or if the mentality changes. On the other hand I'm here checking the 2K page every few hours.

Now I'm Nervous, because if Mike thinks that rating adjustments alone will fix the cheesing, they are looking in the wrong direction. With some of the cheese in the game, like the "side to side", you can even do it with a big man with a bad dribbling rating. It's not because he's too good of a dribbler, it's because of how they force the defender to react to the movement.

This is just 1 of many examples of why ratings alone isn't enough.

Bottom line the game should be made to the point that if you have a 99 rating at something, there should still be a way to stop you. The rating alone on rebounding at times would make the ball just Morph into the players hand even if he wasn't in good enough position to get it.

99 Rated On Ball Steals would force you into an animation to knock the ball away, even if the timing on the steal attempt was wrong.

This is just a short sample of many cheesing actions of the game, that isn't because of changing a rating of 99 to 92, its the logic of the game, and how it reacts to certain things.

Mike you guys need to go back to the drawing board with this one, from the logic in your Blog above, I can almost promise that you'll be hearing more of the same...

Late to comment, but love the new direction.
My one question/complaint, and this can be directed to all sports games, why aren't we using the whole 0-100 scale? We're basically using a 30 point scale 70-99 of players, and that's it.

I want the real scrubs in the 0-25 range. I want my bench players like K. Hinrich, S. Marion, P. Mills etc. in the 25-40 range. Good starters to the 6th guys around 40-70. All stars 70-89. The all time elite super stars in the 90+ range.
So much greater range and thus separates the Elites like Durant, LBJ, etc from just good players much better.
I'd put LBJ at 91, Jordan at about a 95, 99 would be if God got drafted. (plz, this isn't an era debate topic)

I always figured actual NBA players would bitch and moan too much and that's why no sports games did this, but would love to see a developer finally have the balls to do this so we can go beyond the stinking 30 point range of players.
