I play MUT because I don't like cheesers. They are there, but with the promotion/demotion system, you will find that most of the games you play are fun and competitive. The cheeses move on up to higher levels.

And you can't buy the best team. When you do, you get promoted to a new level with guys that have players as good as you. Pay some to build up a decent team, and then stop.

There are eight levels. I'm currently playing in level four. Most games are hard fought and close. The guys at this level have paid some money to play, and aren't like the pub guys in online ranked matches. They don't jack around.

I understand the hatred some have for the mode. But many of the thoughts about it are simply wrong. On top of the improved online play, there are far more solo challenges than you will have time to play.

The real hurdle for most people is that it isn't sim. These are short quarters, but the same number of time outs and no one using the accelerated clocks means it is not as bad as it seems, even at 4 minutes.

What you get is a fantastic CCG version of Madden. It's deep and strategic, with plenty of clock management, strategic adjustments, and exploiting weaknesses. It is fun as hell, and you get a real feeling of ownership of your team.

But seriously, it can be fun without ever playing online. It's one of the very best things Madden did for this mode. I much prefer paying to play this mode than online vs., and it is not even close.

You could assign a defender to cover someone then if that person wasn't on the field for whatever reason, the defender might not cover anyone, lol.

EDIT: 03-02 DB/WR Interaction by Ian Cummings, the addition of defensive assignments, improvements in route and coverage animations, jostling, and improved press play http://www.operationsports.com/forum...fo-thread.html

Well true to Ian's word, defensive assignments did make it back in M10 and that's where it went wonky and eventually removed again at some point. I'd have to find that too but it's at that point where I recall it being removed due to coding, that I referred to earlier.
I recall that pretty clearly.

You had to watch those assignments like a hawk or they would disappear or your Revis's of the world would switch to the #2 WR. It's was, now you see him, now you don't.

Exactly, once upon a time I played Madden for money and know all too well some of the glitches from the past. That's why I disagree when people claim Madden is even a solid video game aside from the lack of realism because I still remember things like the aforementioned defensive assignment glitch, along with "pressing" DBs sometimes causing passing defenders to switch man assignments in the middle of the play. I have since stopped playing Madden for money or even playing it period outside renting/buying used once all the patches are out to give it a try before returning it but I have a hard time believing there aren't still things like that which rear their heads when playing enough.

That is why I am glad EA Access is out. I am going to come on here and read reviews from people who's opinions that I respect before handing out some money. IMO you have CNN (Moody) and Fox (SimStandard) that you can listen to, but if I want to honestly know the pros and cons of the game I know that OS is the place to come to for an unbiased review of the game. Worst case scenario I can wait until February and get it for practically nothing.

Just saying, both of those groups are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Moody doesn't seem to harp on the things that Madden does right, yet that is all the SimStandard does nowadays. I want something in the middle.

Sim shoots us straight, he's pretty much told us everything that was going to be added into the game for the last several years, if you listen closely to what he says. He's also said time and time again, that the game isn't where we all want it yet and if it's not there for you yet, don't buy it. I listen to his radio show often, and nearly every week during this stage of development, and especially knowing what I know now about how all of this works, he's definitely telling everyone exactly what is going on and what is coming down the road. Sim has direct contact with the devs and gives his feedback to them directly, he's told all of us this several times, but for some reason people say he's not critical of what they are developing, that's just not the truth, I saw it first hand, it's a matter of when, not if, the developers are going to address the concerns that people have had on these forums all these years. Look at the last couple years, under Rex and Cam, they worked on nearly all of the major requests that people had been asking for, physics, o/d line play, foot planting, wr/db interactions, better penalty system, etc.... The implementation of those things may not be where we want it YET, but they are STILL working on all of these features and trying to get them to the level we are wanting. Their focus is on these gameplay issues and until they get these things where they are happy with them, they won't be paying as MUCH attention to the bells and whistles, doesn't mean they will ignore them altogether, but it won't be as high of a priority.

Re: Some Madden NFL 16 Features Revealed, Pre-Order & Deluxe Edition Details

Has anyone heard if roster files will be able to be ported over to new edition this year? I am praying they will. Creating custom rosters (classic, specific year, etc) is just a brutal process and no way am I going through that again for 16!!

Please have someone bring this to the attention of the devs if possible. It should be something we had by now anyway. Long overdue.

Thanks!
