But I can't get that Kane goal that they showed, out of my head. It looks AWFUL. He's standing straight up the whole time, the toe drag/deke thing looks terrible.

Then the shot, the puck just like, rockets off of his stick into the top corner. He doesn't slide his bottom hand down the shaft even a little bit, to get leverage to lift it. It looks so clunky, just like it always has.

I'll wait to reserve full judgment, especially with the AI, but I honestly have 0 faith in the EA NHL team to get it right.

Kane's backhand is fantastic, he can do it from standing straight up. I believe they copied this backhand in the trailer (or at least tried to get it close)

Toe drag looks a little stiff, I'll agree with that. But the shot isn't far off

I'm glad you posted that. The reason the shot looks so off in the game, is because he literally is backhand wristing it. Whereas in the video you posted of him in real life, he is sort of chipping it on the backhand. To chip it, you can keep your same hand placement/not really get down low, but to shoot it like he does in the game, you can't just keep your bottom hand in the same position like that and shoot it top shelf on the backhand, at least not with anywhere near that kind of velocity. That's why it looks so dumb in the game.

The shot follow throughs have always looked bad in EA NHL games, especially the backhanders. I was hoping they'd fix this, because it just looks so weird.

Not surprisingly, they botched the Stars uniforms.

Also, the players bodies just look weird, not quite human.

Agreed about the bodies. I can't put my finger on exactly what, but something about them is off.

Now add huge names like Toews, Stamkos, Malkin, Getzlaf, etc. If there is one helmet that nearly a quarter of the league wears it isn't really nitpicking to want it in the game.

Again, I'm not one to get upset because a random stick is missing or gloves don't look the way I want them to. This is something different. The 4500 not being in the game is kind of like third jerseys not being in the game. Can you live without it? Sure, but it's pretty unacceptable for it to be excluded.
That's on Bauer I believe. They want to showcase the new helmets. It's annoying because a ton of guys wear them. It's still in the code, just not available when creating/editing a player.

Re: NHL 15: E3 Trailer and Details - Release Date Set For September 9th

I'm a huge fan boy of the NHL series, I loved NHL 13 and NHL 14 even more.

Having said that, that trailer looks AWFUL. They are touting the physics in this game? Did you not see Kane's goal? Those physics looked terrible. Look at his back hand shot follow through, thats the mechanics of just chipping the puck in. Watch the real play its presumably based on, his bottom raises up almost to his head with the stick sky high. Yeah I know its just 1 backhand shot, but the point is the physics are way off which is what they are touting the game on.

The 2 things that look great are the stadium and the announcing. Game play and physics look average to below average....The problem is stadium and announcing is cool for the fist 40-50 games of play, but after awhile you've seen it all and heard it all, and what matters is the game play.

I mean if they have some kind of intelligent announcing with the rise in the voice and yelling players names at crucial moments, thats a giant leap forward. But call me skeptical, thats easily set up for a trailer....
