Also, a question: anyone struggling win pick and pop? Seems like the defender never cheats hard enough on the ball handler giving the "popper" some space...I tried to run some sets for Chris Bosh but they pretty much left me a free lane most of the time...

I meant it more as the time it takes for the updates to happen. I remember in Live 08-10 that they had to wait for the players to play for their new team before the trade could happen in game, but so far its been lagging behind for no real good reason this year. With all the promo of "updated 1 hour after the game" and having that only really mean ratings (if anything), then ya, its a pain.

I've noticed that some players just will not bite while others will, and sometimes entire teams won't. They all behave different, at least as far as I've seen, with the picks.

Yeah for the time it takes and the fact they advertised one hour is annoying. It was one of the things I was really hyped for. Hopefully they can step up their updating game for the future.

im not sure what happened but im getting a completely different experience than i was two days ago. i got a second roster update today (11387 or something records updated) and it seems like the paint cheese from the cpu is way down.

i played against the nets two days ago and pretty much every possession they were passing to the post and working from there. i played them again today and it was completely different. they actually were taking jump shots when they were open and running normal sets instead of immediately passing to blatche every time down. i still gave up a lot of pip but i didnt feel like they were cheesing to get them. although deron williams completely lit me up and i just couldnt stop him. 49 pts.

I'm somewhere near you and 24th in terms of opinion of this game although it is my preferred game. The thing for me is that I am constantly raging against people who dwell on the graphics because I am afraid that EA's reaction will be more of what you mentioned in your post (long drawn out animations just for the sake of looks).

I too hate the get caught in animation crap this game does and I think it is at least part of the reason paint cheese is so difficult to stop. If you as the defender press up on the post player you become stuck into his animations/moves/whatever you call it, and it's hard to react in time to the spin, or any other move, once you are set free. Also the catch animations tend to allow the defense to catch up to the ball handler especially when catching the ball on cuts, rebounds or anything at the basket.

Overall I really like this game but some things in it seem like really bone headed choices made by the DEVs as well as things that were missed that leave me wondering how could they have missed that! Like CPU timeouts, I know this is a legacy problem but I'm still like didn't they play at least one game before they released this?

Unlike some though, I do like the shot releases. As far as dribbling and locomotion I feel like there is considerably less control in this years game as opposed to Lives of the past.

Game play has improved over the last few roster releases and what I like most about the game is the realistic way most things play out on the court, it doesn't feel forced or CPU enacted. I just wanted to go on record as one of those who has praised the game overall but at the same time I'm not in love with every aspect of it and I can see a ton of room for improvement. Finally, as if I hadn't said it enough, I don't want graphics improved at the cost of having to deal with drawn out animations and loss of control.
