It's about as good as a basketball game is going to be on eight-year-old hardware, hence the higher overall score. Like Larry Brown taking the Charlotte Bobcats to the playoffs, it's doing great things with not a lot of raw physical talent.

NBA 2K14 on the PlayStation 4 is presumably just scratching the surface of what's possible on the system. It might be a better game than the Xbox 360 version when you put the two side by side, but the PS4 version still scores lower overall because it doesn't seem to be getting as much out of the powerful PlayStation 4 hardware as the Xbox 360 version is getting out of much weaker technology. That would make the PS4 edition the "Scott Brooks" version of NBA 2K14: it still performs at a high level, but you can't help but feel like it could be doing a lot better than it is with so much power at its disposal.
While I understand what you are sayings it's contradictive when you consider we are talking about a next gen sports game that was developed in one year as oppose to a current gen game that has had 8 year's of development. So to be fair if your going to review a game that has had 8 years of development and maxed out a console and there by give it a high score you also need to consider and factor in a game that has had only a year's worth of development yet clearly show's how much work was put into that title in one year. As you said you can't compare a game that has maxed out a system to a game that is only beginning to see it's full potential due to it being on new hardware, but if that game is already the pinnacle of the sport it shouldn't be penalized for it!!!! Just doesn't make sense to me. It's like comparing a brand new state of the art car engine that was developed in one year with the help of many advancements in technology yet rate an 8 year old car engine higher because it's been around longer. To me that's not a scientific or logical way to judge.

1:47, what in the hell is going on?!?! Also, still ALOT of sliding happening. Most notably when you're trying to drive past a defender and they slide in front of you and post play down low.

Some cool stuff, I would like them personally to say it's a port because it is gameplay wise, which is why we buy the game. And that's just the smart thing to do, live set themselves back 8 years tryna create a completely separate next gen experience at the beginning of this current console generation. I just feel mislead that they say it's not a port when it basically is. New modes are cool, that park gon have me never at the real park now.

The game looks beautiful of course. IMO I don't think the noise (rim, crowds, etc.,) is a gamebreaker. I would like to see the audio presentation addressed in the future though, along with better gameplay and responsiveness. I also hope that 2k eventually brings lobbies back. I really miss that aspect of online gaming.

Kinda sad to hear the Career mode is cheesy and graphics aren't everything,I'm not sure why people are going so overboard on the graphics. Still looks like a solid title
