No one else notice New York bench players wearing warmups? I thought they weren't in? What gives?

I'll ask again: which of the next gen titles that are releasing on both the current and next gen systems represent an entirely different gameplay experience?

If you're going into this generation expecting every game to be some wholly new experience and none of them are, then I'd have to say the problem lies in the person having unrealistic expectations, not the games themselves.
I have to be honest, I mean this nicely, but I don't care about any other sports games at this point. Aside from a neat blog post a week ago by The Show, I haven't seen any information on any other next generation sports games. I think some, like myself, are concerned with what NBA 2K14 next gen is providing, period, not what it's providing in comparison to games we do not care about in the first place.

To try to put it more clearly, if one finds 2K's next gen non-graphical improvements unspectacular, I do not think they'll be more moved to buy the product simply because their unspectacular improvements still exceed what other games are putting forth.

I'd say, if next generation gaming isn't supposed to provide wholly new experiences, then what may be the motivation of immediately spending $500 on an upgrade? On the previous generation, I balked at NBA 2K6 for 360 because it seemed like a graphical upgrade of the game I already had. However, 2K7 seemed to be a wholly new experience, and I had a tough time denying such a purchase. I think it makes sense for consumers to want something substantial out of a large monetary investment. And if it's not there yet (which we're still trying to figure out) then it may be worth waiting a little bit.

EDIT: I see you mentioned "new engine" and I think to some that means "entirely different game". When the current gen game was already considered to be the best basketball ever - why would anyone realistically expect them to throw the baby out with the bath water and go in a completely different direction when it wasn't necessary? Or even practical?
Yeah, I feel ya. I can't even remember what the exact quote was about the next gen engine. I doubt they said it was literally going to be a new engine built from the ground up. But the rumors spread nonetheless and I think imaginations ran wild. With such impressive graphical upgrades, and such secrecy and very little gameplay releases, I think a lot of folks were maybe imagining things like defenders not randomly running out of bounds on rotations anymore, rebounders not boxing out air, and Stephen Curry not two hand hammering like Kenyon.

I understand those could be unrealistic expectations, but I suppose that's me agreeing with you that many just didn't know exactly what to expect. I didn't know what to expect. I'm still not entirely sure really.

Re: NBA 2K14 Next-Gen Review (IGN)

The broadcast gameplay looked beautiful. Shame on 2K for not showing it off prior to this. Acting scary for no reason.

I have no interest in MyGM or the Park. Cousins miming his thoughts was

The amount of loose balls is excessive. I don't think in your average NBA game you don't see it constantly. We've seen it in pretty much every video so far. Hopefully sliders can tune that.

Beyond that, the expectations for this game were way too high. Hopefully in 2K15 they can finally fix all of these legacy issues because the game does play a very good brand of basketball. They just need some fine tuning in gameplay areas such as control (we need more of it), rebounding and player movements.

Re: NBA 2K14 Next-Gen Review (IGN)

I think at some point it became the "Thing to do" asking for a new engine. Build it from ground up. Without asking why. When we hammered EA over it years ago it was because their gameplay engine was incapable of things other games were doing and doing extremely well. EAs games felt like they were still based on the original PlayStation (player interactions). They were sorely behind the curve.

Now it just seems people demand it because its "internet cool" lol. 2K would be complete idiots to throw away their code and start over. Again live had to and look how long its taking them to put something together. From what I've seen and read about eco-motion I'm convinced I'll be happy with my next gen purchase. The games always look smoother in person and with speed adjustments. If the A.I. and game play is as good as before or improved at all (I expect it will) I'm good.

Maybe some left over code from last gen version? Do we know if he was playing the retail game?
I still don't understand what's the reasoning for not having them + some cheerleader *** in next gen, I know it's just a nitpick but I thought the number of people in arenas would increase with more power, not the other way around.

Does anyone know if in My GM we have to have full 82 game seasons or can it be shortened? This is a huge deal to me and probably a few others
