Re: NBA 2K14 Video - Next-Gen Gameplay

I swear, the parroting that goes on in forums is straight comedy. I just want to make a couple of comments:

1. To the fake "reasonable person with valid criticisms" that whine because people "jump down their throat" when they don't say something positive - the only people getting checked are those that go overboard and say things like it's not worth the upgrade. The others are the Live salemen. Truly reasonable criticisms (see Sundown), no one bats an eye.

2. They demo'ed the difference in foot planting from old gen to next gen at the event, and from all accounts that saw it, there were no complaints. I think some OUTSIDE of VC said "no" sliding. As I've said with even other games; making the claim of *no* foot sliding is idiotic. If it's "noticeably LESS" foot sliding, that's a major upgrade.

3. Gameplay is the same... Well, ****ing DUH!!! IT'S BASKETBALL!!! What do you expect it to look like? Rugby. People expecting a basketball game to not look like basketball are not too bright. Millions of people are pretty happy with that gameplay. So, if you are waiting for them to change it, buy your coffin. But to say they sit on their gameplay is a straight up lie considering all of the changes that go into their gameplay year after year. Most importantly, the gameplay is supposed to change over the year. Not the weeks between OG and NG. Again, more unrealistic expectations piled on these games.

Re: NBA 2K14 Video - Next-Gen Gameplay

Personally I'm fine with it being mostly the same as the last gen gameplay. The last gen gameplay is pretty darn good in my opinion, and as some have said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

There will be a bigger difference as the years go on, but for the very first game on a new console, can we really expect the game to be 100% different? They have to have some sort of foundation to go off, and what better foundation to use than the great one they've built over the last several years?

I'd rather them take this time to build their game up right and fix the foundation than listen to what some of these guys are saying. Like I said, expecting them to give you everything and the sink in one year is insanely unrealistic...but if they added what they say they did and it shows, I'll be happy for a year 1 game, which I also expect to be a bit quirky since its the first year... shoot it looks WAY better than it did when switched to 2k6.

I don't know yet, but from those videos, I think the atmosphere could be changed. I hear the same rim sound that was in way back in 2K1 on Dreamcast and most likely the rest of the arena sounds crowd, commentators, etc.. are pretty much the same (I dont know really, just going off of what I've seen so far.)

The rim sounds like a long hollow cylinder with a hollow deep echo on missed jumpers which is not what you hear when watching a game.

2k really needs to go inside of an arena and record a few different crowds man because this static crowd currently there is stale and it just doesn't matchup with the visuals or the gameplay IMO.

Anyway, I hate to keep saying it, but the marketing team really needs to push this game much better because so far the showing has been poor, considering what it is.

Exactly. And this was pretty much the blueprint when they got on the gen 7 consoles. And the progression of the series was just fine.

To chime in a little half of these cats that are complaining all the time never played Magic vs. Bird basketball. We have truly come a long way with video games...

I believe these young cats have no idea what a Atari 2600 feels like in your hands lol...

I had them all I won't tell me age though....lol lol

I like the idea of recording real crowds.. like real, dynamic crowds giving you a great, real atmosphere... everything adds to the realism of the game!

Re: NBA 2K14 Video - Next-Gen Gameplay

It's hard to create game that is true 1:1 duplicate of real life animations and at the same time allow users total control of the player on the court. That's the problem i have w/ NBA2k game since 2K7. If animations and physics slow down the gameplay and make it not responsive to user control 1:1...then that ain't good enough. From what i heard, it's a little more responsive w/ the footplanting but i dont' know.
