Madden 13 sold 4.87 million worldwide while NBA 2K13 sold 4.81 million worldwide. The closest it's ever been and that's why I think 2K Sports is so focused on coming in with a Bang this upcoming generation. To Reign Supreme not just among NBA games but sports games!

When I first saw the question I laughed it off, figured Madden was a lot more. Then I checked. They are pretty much the same, about 5 million or so each year.
