Re: Madden NFL 25 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)

My main takeaway after playing this demo is how much potential M25 has to be a really good/maybe great game. Felt the same way after the NCAA 14 demo but some of the defensive problems have really stopped me from truly enjoying the game. Can't wait to see offline franchise mode in action

Would just love to see EA tighten up the coverage

THat is the exact scenario that has been described on several occasion. One user said he was prepared to use his timeouts in order to get the ball back but the CPU was calling them first.

He then had his timeouts to use when he got the ball back lol. That is asinine.

You really are fooling yourself if you think that's okay, regardless of if its BB or not.
If any coach would do it, it would be BB. I could see him kick a field goal early and then kicking an onside kick to regain possession again and run out the clock. All because he was unsure of his kicker waiting on the sideline longer and getting nervous.

Most of the "go-for-it" 4th down decisions he makes are debatable too...

I personally would consider that bad clock management.

Cmon, Jaymee.

Why would you call timeouts, hurry up and kick the go ahead field goal only to ATTEMPT an onside kick which could leave the other team 25 yards away from field goal range?

All when you could have run the clock out and wait for a chip shot field goal.

Even BB isn't that crazy, he wouldn't still be an NFL coach if he pulled anything like that.

And you know it.

YOu have no reason to make up crazy scenarios to justify it. We know you like the game, there is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with admitting to a blemish which if it never affects you isn't even a problem.

An above poster mentioned it would be great to have human error as a part of the game and I 100% agree.

The problem is, the clock management being given as an example is absurd and not something any NFL coach would do and the scenario listed above is no different than any of the previous examples listed.

There's a difference between human error and absurdity.

If there are good examples of clock management I too, would love to hear them.

The problem is, a CPU coaching doing something that makes sense isn't necessarily anything to gloat about or get excited about. A coach doing something absurd is going to catch your attention 100% of the time.
Agree with most of this.

What angered me last year was the CPU AI in Madden 13, down by 10 points with under 2 minutes left in the half, would run the clock out most of the time. In my small sample size with this years demo, I have seen the CPU AI, at the end of the half, try to score a TD or FG.

That should be something we should be excited about. The terrible clock mgt by the CPU at the end of each half should be irritating.

That is such a mixed bag of CPU AI results.

The other thing that bugged me last year with the CPU play calling was CPU running on first down 80% of the time. The CPU AI QB has mixed it up with run and pass so far.

I'm going to need M25 on the new consoles to really utilize the things touted for the Ignite Engine to enhance the experience found in M25 on current consoles. The player movement needs to be very fluid, the living worlds need to add immersion and the AI needs to differentiate players.
THIS.

Here is an HONEST opinion on how Madden 25 feels...

CONS:

The game is dead, crowd noise lasts for half a second after touchdowns and are pretty much a none factor through out the game.

Commentary is vastly improved but still horrible and that is a direct result of the game being dead. No real excitement from anybody that is not on the field. Its just dead. Lots of dead spots and awkward nothingness as the camera pans around etc.

Animations are an eye sore. a QB scramble is one of the most exciting things in football, yet here it looks like some herky jerky crap. Receivers coming off the line look really bad as well. Just looks robotic and dull. Lifeless.

The passing game, while it feels decent, timing based routes would make this game 10000x better.

No half-time and post game shows, and no stat banners. Presentation is lackluster.

WR/DB interaction is atrocious

Some player models look really bad.

Tackling is by far the worst. Unless you hit stick, that feels GREAT. But tackling is pretty none existent here. No wrapping up or anything.

PROS:

The running game is back, foot planting and cutting is as smooth as butter. Can't stress enough how good that feels.

The computer A.I. is vastly improved.

The sideline reporter is a really good feature

DL/OL interaction is decent. Good push from the DL this time around.

Graphics look really good.

The Hit stick is awesome.

Run Free is finally an EA advertisement that lives up to its billing.

Passing feels cheap, due to the fact that I can rip off HUGE chunks by exploiting the lead feature.

SCORE:
6/10

EA has finally made a football game that I will purchase because I can actually tell they are "really" trying to get it right. So far though, this is the best 'playing' Madden since 05

After a full Game. It grew on me. I got season ticket and with the Sunday ticket deal. I cannot pass. Throw a solid OS madden league in and I'm set.

I did admit the blemish. I'm just rationalizing it as not too far fetched and in my head I can justify it and think it's BB running the other team. Don't accept the game for what it is, make it what you want it to be. Use your imagination is all i'm preaching...
