Just by looking at Team Builder there is an absurd amount of backup QB's with NFL Pro style Throwing power and Accuarcy ratings.

Why is it such a crime to have college kids rated in the 70's or below for arm strength and accuracy????

That doesn't even take into the account the actual starters for each team being assigned inflated ratings
....

But my point is simply tweaking the passing slider isn't going to separate the type of completion's or incompletion's you see in the game because way too many players at the QB position have similar or duplicate passing ratings assigned to them at the games release.

I think way too often as fans of the series we rely on sliders to fix gameplay issues. I believe it should be the other way around and the ratings should dictate as much stuff as possible on the field.
The reason for those ratings being high is because they have to be within EA's game engine in order for the game to play correctly. They are inflated, in some cases absurdly, but in order for the game not to be broken as hell it is necessary.

Let me ask you a question have you ever used a roster file with lower ratings across the boards and then played a game?

One can argue that the inflated high ratings is what makes the game broken not lower ratings.

Not to turn this into a ratings thread because that is off topic but I totally disagree with the notion that ratings has to be high in order to make the gameplay effective.

Ratings have to be high because that is what ONLINE gamers enjoy and that is what sales to the masses.

Re: NCAA Football 14 Demo is Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)

Just ran into a major (but probably infrequent) bug. Was playing as Virginia Tech against Alabama and Alabama throws a pass to the back of the endzone where it was intercepted by my defensive back. (I know this because the control switched to that player and I rarely/never switch players on defense). However the play on the field was an incomplete pass. Then the booth reviews the call and overturns it (as it appeared my player had one foot in bounds when I watched it first hand). However, instead of giving me the ball at my own 20 yd line, Alabama is credited with a touchdown and the next play is their point after attempt. If I could do replays I would try to take a highlight but while I was upset I feel this is probably a very infrequent occasion and that is why it was not caught.

One thing I like was that I was trailing by 5 points, with no timeouts and only 41 seconds remaining in the game and the ai kept spying my qb, and forcing me to drive the length of the field knowing that only a td would beat them. I couldn't just scramble for big chunks of yards like in past games, hopefully that's not a coincidence.

The only trouble I've had in the demo so far is CPU clock management. Maybe it's just me or the situations that I manage to put the computer in. My friends haven't really complained about it. I've just seen some bad uses of timeouts and such.

Other than that it's a great game in my opinion. Really looking forward to getting my hands on the early release Friday!

Re: NCAA Football 14 Demo is Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)

im having a blast with this demo and I just wanted to point out a few things that I really like seeing in this years game

1- the ankle socks are gone a real pet peeve of mine in recent years, it's cosmetic but needed. im sure roster editors will appreciate this more than most

2- I'm really digging the outline and detail artwork put into the cleats this year. it hasn't gone unnoticed and its a little detail that really polishes up the player a bit. again cosmetic. I also believe the NIKE swoosh on the uniform pants is new as well but also adds a nice little touch for realism. finally EA seems to be "diving in" to the details

3- the build of the player models, especially the big guys, (FB, LB, DL, OL, TE) all look slimmed down bit. they streamlined the builds which really makes them actually resemble "athletes" for once. not like the models of the past that made lineman look like obeast slobs. also the pad levels for all the players seem to be lowered to really resemble the way football players wear there pads these days. gone are the days of the "hulking" shoulder pads of the 80's and 90's and now NCAA14 seemingly will reflect that as well.

4- I cant say enough on how much better they have done this year with making all the colors of the game really "pop". NO MORE washed out look this year.

5- I really have been enjoying the group celebration cut scenes after the play. adds a nice touch to immersion.

6-last but definitely not least the new camera angles (zoom, coord) are great its nice to have more than one angle to play from which enables us to switch it up after awhile to keep things fresh. we STILL need a custom camera option but these new angles are a start and a step in the right direction.

Im not going to talk about gameplay yet. Ill hold off till the release but I am very encouraged by what I have seen so far from he demo. Cant wat tll Friday and to get my hands on an edited roster and put in some work. The effort is there this year clearly and thus far it really shows.
