They do not have a choice in upgrading the course since it is part of their licensing agreement with the course. NOW you don't know why they don't.....

The "coins" thing isn't a bad thing IF you have the time and desire to spend 10 hrs (or whatever) per week.

I hope the coins return. I thought paying for courses was bogus. I liked being able to earn enough in game to download the courses last year. I'll be pretty bummed if they go back to the old model of having to pay for everything.

How? I haven't seen an option in the game where I can purchase the courses with money, only the "in-game coins". What/where am I missing?

You can purchase coins in game and then use those coins to buy the courses you want, at least on the PS3.

You just go to course list to play a quick round and do it there, I believe.
