Sir Emmdot, I have a few related questions:

The first is regarding editing ratings in a CCM, I'm just curious as to what the thinking was behind not allowing attribute edits while inside an offline CCM? I can understand online edits of ratings being disallowed for obvious reasons, but why offline? The reason I ask leads to my second question:

I feel as though regression does come into play as drastically as it should and, because CPUs manage depth charts solely on the basis of overalls, it's unfrotunate that regression isn't more...drastic. 32 year old RBs still start for their teams, for example, when they should no longer be 96 or 94 or 92 overall. Further, regression from playing poorly after a season doesn't seem to exist either as one CPU QB threw 20 TDs to 38 INTs but still went up an overall point.

In-CCM rating edits would allow me to 'solve' these problems.

As well, I could solve this maddening issue in my CCM where the Cardinals drafted a QB first pick overall but are still starting John Skelton because he's 2 overall points better, even though he has 1 TD to 8 picks on the year.

So, my point is that, for as long as CPUs will manage their depth charts based solely on overall, and if these ratings do not shift drastically enough, and if I cannot edit them myself, that poor Cardinals 1st overall QB may never grow unless something else occurs (Skelton is injured or released and they don't sign another starter)

I make a long winded example here just to express how over the moon I'd be if I could just edit overalls/ratings of CPU players while inside my CCM. It would help perpetuate the storytelling aspects of my CCM and help evolve my little madden world for the better!

So from reading some of these posts I get the feeling that CPU playcalling (CPU teams running 45 times in a game and passing 15) has NOT been addressed in patch 3?

Correct me if i'm wrong, or if we still dont know

Tiburon/EA should eliminate the XP system and player/team schemes for M14. That way you shouldnt have any problems if you want to edit a 4-3 DE to a 3-4 OLB and vice versa. I hate the XP setup and would have preferred to see Mini Camp return thats used to increase your player's attributes. Why is it that instead of staying with the good stuff and basics, Tiburon/EA do the opposite? Makes no sense to me.

I'm waiting for this patch like everyone else but since you can use custom rosters, im hoping player ratings dont decrease when starting a CCM because if they do, then whats the point in allowing custom rosters?

I appreciate the effort to introduce something new into Madden with the XP system.

However, I don't see a way it can work to have full editing restored (including daniel's scheme changes he mentioned above) as long as it exists.

Maybe it should be re-considered for M14 in order to restore control to the users for a more holistic coaching experience?

The problem is that when something new is added to Madden, its either flawed, glitched or quite honestly, shouldnt be in the game to begin with. Madden is NOT an RPG. Its a football video game thats supposed to represent the actual sport of professional football. Since the XP system is used to increase player attributes (and why there's no editing of player attributes in CCM) and Mini Camp was used for the same purpose, why not bring back something that has to do with football, is a lot of fun to play and accomplishes the same goal - which is being able to increase your player's attributes without editing?

I dont like the scheme setup because it defeats the purpose of using custom rosters and prevents other things that the user should be able to do but cant. I dont like that the scheme actually increases or decreases overall ratings. Its stupid. I'm a 49ers fan and im sorry but there's no way in hell that TE Vernon Davis should decrease 5 points in CCM because he doesnt fit the scheme when in reality, he's easily the biggest offensive weapon we have in the passing game and some would argue that Davis IS the passing game. Just doesnt make any sense at all.

Tiburon/EA should go back to basics, add in the stuff they took out for no apparent reason other than to piss people off, and give the user as many options and customizing as possible. It's 2012, I shouldnt be playing a video game that gives me less options and such than what was available a decade ago. Seriously, it makes no sense and is the opposite of what it should and is supposed to be.

So then why don't goals, the new ratings, stats depend on whatever position we put them at on the depth chart? So if I change a WR to TE then all of their goals, ratings will all be updated according to the new position. I'm sure there are calculations that go on under the hood that determines all of this automatically when rosters are updated and they aren't hard coded. Plus, I don't get why stats depend on position?
