The way how some of you all are reacting to the Ankle Breaker skill makes me think you failed Reading Comprehension 101and Basic Math. A 30% increase for something that say has an 8% chance of happening jumps to a whopping 10.4%. In other words something that would happen 8 times out of 100 now happens 10 times out of 100. You're not going to be falling all over the place if that's what you believe.

SMH at the people upset Lebron doesn't have more sig skills. As if it isn't easy enough already to damn near average a triple-double with him...

Re: NBA 2K13 - All 31 Signature Skills Revealed

Closer:

As mentioned before is actually unrealistic for some of the players they chose but it looks like they gave anywhere from 1-12 attribute boost. I will have to see the impact to really tell. If it is overdone I think 2K will lower the boost number. Just like in 2K12 they lowered the chance of last second game winning shots from how it was at the initial release of the game.

Eraser:

Will decrease the person who gets blocked 1-6 shooting attributes for up to a 1:30. I do think the time can be a little bit too extreme. I say it should be lowered but they didn't say it will always will be a minute and 30 nor did they say it will always be the highest 6. The funny thing about some of these skills will make the user a little more fearful of doing certain things for fear of getting an attribute loss. So this one might work in making the game a little more realistic especially user vs. user even if the actual effect is overdone. This one is a good example.

Something the write-up didn't mention was how to counter some of the moves. Example you can counter a posterizer by fouling or trying to foul. So it becomes 1 foul vs. giving up the dunk and energy boost for his whole team. Which is a what you would do if you don't have a great shot blocker.

Re: NBA 2K13 - All 31 Signature Skills Revealed

I think a lot of y'all are blowing these sig skills out of proportion. You're worrying that the game will turn to cheese before you've even played it. My philosophy on a few of these skills:

Defensive Anchor - Teams will play just a little better defense when say, a KG is in the game rather than when he's backed up by Fab Melo. What's 6 points when a player's defensive awareness is like 60?

Playmaker - same as above, except for offense. This was actually already implemented in College Hoops 2k8 when it was beneficial to have your seniors on the floor to increase team stability.

Eraser- if Kobe gets his shot swatted, big deal. His shooting ratings already high, so what if he drops from 90 to 84? Not to mention superstar players like him have skills that probably negate this anyway. This will only have a dramatic on scrub players.

Corner 3- a player like Bruce Bowen is only adept at hitting corner 3s. I'm guessing he shot something like 40% or more from 3, but he only took them in the corner. A 40% 3pt shooter would equate to like an 80 rating in 2k. With this skill, you can give him a rightful rating of like 70 because his corner 3 percentage will be the only spot where he's dead on from.

Just some hypothetical questions - say you did one of those dunks on Blake griffin against me:
  • What is my (meaning me - iLLosophy) psychological state after getting posterized and hearing the crowd go crazy?
  • Is it possible I (iLLosophy) could be demoralized after you did that, thus impacting how I play the next several minutes? My thoughts could be like this: "Man Mos1ted better not submit that dunk for OS top 10...that was some bs....I can't believe they called foul on me." Completely throws off my game for the next few minutes. I start 2nd guessing myself, throwing bad passes, leaving guys wide open, etc
  • Is it possible you (Mos1ted) get hype after doing that dunk and gives you a boost in confidence? If not you, maybe someone else?

That should give you a better insight into the psychological game I want to play. And I'd prefer to play it without the game compounding or negating the effect
I see what you're saying, but that takes me point to my original point about this game simulating the NBA. It isn't always about how you would react in that situation; it's about how an NBA player would react to that situation.

If you look at the clip of Blake Griffin dunking on Kendrick Perkins, Perkins looked like he was about to cry. Personally, I probably wouldn't react that way if I were dunked on my Blake Griffin, but I'm not controlling myself in the game; I'm controlling an NBA player.
