Do guys sometimes get launched into the air unrealistically, yes. But instead of that happening 60% of the time they toned it down to about 5% of the time and it plays a much more realistic game of footie. I can see the same thing happening with this year's madden

This is exactly what a lot of us are hoping for.

Fingers crossed.

If not, I suggest adjusting the sliders using one of the sets from the Madden 12 forums and then posting impressions. I assure you will see a completely different game. The demo play is atrocious without adjustment.

Game is tuned for online play (more arcade experience) out of the box
For a person like me, that's the FIRST thing I do. Lol. I either use slow or very slow since Madden first introduced the game speed option. It has always made a difference for me and this game is no different. I ALWAYS go straight into the options of ANY game I play to tweak it to my liking whether in the beginning or as I play to get a feel of a game.

I'm up here at work fantasizing about getting home and getting back into this demo. No gym again for me but my damn gf wants to stop by to ruin my damn fantasy. It shouldn't be like that, right? Lol.

Really?

I enjoyed Madden 10 but 13 is so much better to me when it comes to gameplay.

Madden 10's big feature was Pro-Tak. While Pro-Tak did add things to the game, the physics engine in Madden 13 adds everything that Pro-Tak claimed to add to the game and more.

Multiple hit tackles, cases in which players push the ball carrier to go past the first down line, and the overall feeling of struggling in tackles that was said about Madden 10 is way more true with Madden 13. I agree that at times it doesn't look nice, but it feels a whole lot better than what has ever been in Madden before.

Pro-Tak had a lot of "hugging" due to it being canned animation based and the "hugging" caused a whole lot of suction during plays. There's absolutely no suction in tackles now with Madden 13.

Also, maybe it's just me but I don't really see my players turning directions instantly when running. Whenever I run the ball and try to make a fast cut, the player has to adjust for a moment to change direction.

So yeah, I agree that the huge progress made in Madden 10 was lost in Madden 11 but Madden 13 (based on the demo) to me is a much better game in terms of feel. It does everything that Pro-Tak in Madden 10 was advertised to do, and adds on to it when it comes to the frequency of those things happening in-game as well as just an improvement in feel which thus makes Madden 13 (in my opinion) the better game.

I know it was an issue in madden 12 but why can you not manual jump with your wr on all madden level? This is a huge part of the game...blocking the defender and catching that ball at the highest is a big part of football. You can do this on pro mode but not on all madden...very frustrating. Overall, I enjoy the game but this a huge and the fact that assisted tackles are not being calculated correctly is very frustrating.

If Madden takes a step back every year, Madden 06 should be the best of this generation, but that's sure as hell not the case is it?

From over complaining about the lighting, to saying the infinity engine is a step back and actually makes the game worse? Seriously just stop it. I'll never get half of you people. No matter what game EA puts out it will be disappointing and the worst ever.
Really? Because I dont see or enjoy the game like you do. I have no idea what I want , and I have a agenda?

This is not a accurate claim and you know it. You can not make this claim because some of us feel different than you do about the demo. I posted my impression soley on what I felt when I played the demo. No agenda and I do know exactly what I want, and unfortuanltey the demo did not provide it.

What I posted was simply my honest opinon of the game. While some will agree wiith me and some wont. I will never go out of my way to discredit anyone for enjoyng this demo. I have absolutely no right to steal anyones joy. Its not my style to do such a thing, and under the same token I feel no one has the right to make such claim because I dislike the demo.

In this situation we are both right for being true to ourselves. I dislike the demo and you like it, but we can not jump on anoyne else because they feel and see things differently. This is the world we live in, and its perfect that way.

What we need is for members in here to just respect other opinons and not make claims that are false.

This build better be an old one and better be tuned before Aug. 28th.
I have to admit friend you being upset through me for a loop lol. I do feel your pain brother, and hopefully the retail version differs from the demo.

yes I have a new avator again lol, doesnt he look cool? I love it!

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)

I didnt like the demo at first but after playing many more games I must say I really like it to the point I cant go back to NCAA 13.
The game play is not perfect but it feels more organic. The suction tackling is minimal compare to NCAA Football, in ncaa if u get within a yard of a defender you are tackled, they suck to the ball carrier so fast you cant even perform a juke move.

Tackling is more realistic, ball carriers fall forward a lot more often than in ncaa, and all db's dont hit like James Harrison, stone walling backs with a full head of steam.

Gameplay is less predictable in Madden 13. Ncaa is so black and white and robotic.
Madden displays more catch animations, ive seen a lot more catch animations in this demo than I have in ncaa 13. In ncaa, on streak routes, they always do the same catch animation where the reciever reaches back for the ball instead of a over the shoulder catch.

And the blocking, blocking in ncaa football 13 is just down right horriffic, I dont need to go into details about that its all over youtube. In Madden 13 they dont miss nearly as many blocks as its college counterpart and the special team blocking (punt and kick return) is the best it has ever been. Good punt returners like Devin Hester will be a factor in Madden 13.

And the presentation in Madden 13 is no where near where it needs to be, but its way better than ncaa football, and thats just sad, because Maddens is not anything great at all. But the commentary, camera angles, and crowd noise in Madden 13 is way better than NCAA Football 13.

Overall I like Madden 13 better than NCAA Football 13 because its something different with the RTP engine, you never know what you are going to see. And the googfyness that comes along with RTP, im ok with that. Ncaa football is just more of the same old.

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)

i guess im one of the guys in the "weird" camp. i just jumped back and read the last 10pgs. im a little shocked at all the "this game is trash/horrible/worst yet" statements. IMO its the best this gen. just so u know, i only like '10 and '12 and ncaa '11 and '12 minus all the glitches/bugs...the rest of this gen is throwaway. let me be clear, this game does have work ahead and we know this already. physics included in all aspects of the game, ol/dl and cb/wr interactions, footplanting, and adding back all of our options in franchise just to name the most important.

1)physics -

i love it. i know its not polished as good as it could be. im leaning on its just an older build and im basing that off the huge diff between fifa 12 physics in the demo vs retail. it was day and night diff to me. the fifa 12 demo had ALOT of wackiness...retail was cleaned up very well. this is very possible with madden. another 4-8 wks of tuning could be big.

i do like how it feels to finally have bigger HB's/TE's lower the battering ram and have it play out realistically if they have momentum on their side or just a big size advantage. in '12 u could lower ur shoulder way ahead of contact at full speed and get marshawn lynch stood up and pushed backwards with a tiny cb ALL THE TIME!! so glad thats gone.

right now my only beef with physics is post play they bumble and stumble around like idiots...but lets be real to all who are complaining bout it...they were already brain dead and bumping aimlessly into each other in every release this gen. Fifa 12 has this issue to a lesser degree where they may have issues getting untangled from each other after collision pileup...but it was severely lessened in retail than it was in demo which is a good sign. this is a backburner issue cuz it doesnt effect gameplay tho...just a lil eyesore.

2)passing -

feels great and i didnt notice one psychic LB batting down passes meant for a wr 10 yds ahead of them. not once....halle-F'n-lujah!!! my only gripe was cb's seeming to jump routes frequently and cut off my wr's a little too often. no biggie...a lil -5 or so to pass coverage reaction slider and we're back in biz.

3)defense -

feels pretty good. pretty much the same but also diff. diff due to the fact that now u might miss a tackle or can get burned more...why...cuz no psychic defenders leaping all over the place knocking everything down within 10yds of em. it felt good laying ppl out if u had good position or a head full of steam. ppl stumbling and bouncing off of tackles feels smoother now and has way less super long animations for the ball carrier. saw alot of sweet interactions on d.

my fav tackle tho was Helu was running a sweep left. i sniffed it out and caught him coming around the LT...me with full steam ahead with KJ Wright (LB)....i chose to dive at him cuz i didnt wanna get trucked or shrugged off just in case...i crunched him HARD(even had a loud impact sound) as i flew at him like a flying shoulder torpedo. i bounced off and kept flying to the left of him. thinking he was gonna keep running and get more yards...nope he took the impact and it stopped his momentum in his tracks as he braced to take it. he tried to gather himself but he couldnt balance after that hard hit and he just crumpled to the ground and fell over where he was standing. it was sweet cuz he kind of froze in place and was immobilized for like 2 secs before the fall over...this def relayed a hard collision took place. in '12 we all knw i wouldve bounced off him and had no effect on his momentum and wouldve gained another 10yds probably.

had another sweet tackle sequence play out while i was on offense...hit mike williams with a nice pass and turned him upfield. just as i did that a cpu guy tried to lay him out...since williams is so big...he got pushed back a few steps(looked kinda like it does when u do a backjuke) and i was able to gather my feet and keep going upfield another 10yds. if this was '12...even if i had a animation play out where u stumbled the animation would be so long ud never be able to get control and keep moving. wish they had replays for stuff like this. im sure ill be saving alot of plays in retail tho.

3)presentation -

i really hope they didnt get rid of all that camera work they did with the Dcam system last yr. that would be a BIG shame as that was a really nice touch. i didnt notice too many of the camera angles or the intros from last yr. i hope theyre not in just cuz this is a demo. thats the type of stuff they need to learn how to build on. stop scrapping good stuff...but build on it. thats why we're so lacking in depth now. extra point was a good start for halftime...but wat they do...scrap it. all it needed was more better commentary and some video and it coulda been top notch by now. it honestly felt like alot of the Dcam angles for post play were missing too. if that stuff is missing in '13, i feel the presentation will take a step back some. I did like the stat overlays tho. hope theyre pretty frequent in retail. demo seemed like a step in the right direction.

Conclusion -

this is a good step in the right direction. progress has been def made. if you cant see progress...i would almost wanna call u blind. honestly thats all i ask for in a yearly title. no stagnation...bring about progress and fix issues from before. i feel like thats what this title represents....progress! it hasnt "arrived" yet tho. still lots to fix IMO, but this is worth $60. i do not feel like this will be '12.5, but actually '13. all in all im looking forward to the retail in 2 wks.
