Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)

So I played 3 games and I just don't feel it. Haven't bought a Madden since Madden 10. Played the 11,12 and now 13 demo and I just don't see buying it. I really want too because I love football and want to play with some of the rookies, but the gameplay is just not what I expected. I put the Ncaa 13 demo on and I feel that played the same.

I'm playing the demo of Madden and I'm just like ok nothing is different except the tackles. I kind of knew the RTP, or whatever its called, was only on tackles from the videos that I watched. I was hoping it was on more things like the GC's kept hinting at, but I don't see it. I'll play tomorrow. Maybe I was excepting more and not really focusing on what is good. I'll let my mind rest and see tomorrow....

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)

Well, just lost to the 49ers 6-3 on All Madden. It played really well. I had to up my catch slider to 50 and lower the CPU Break tackle down to 25 (trust me. Frank Gore broke plenty of tackles) but otherwise it played very well. I would have won if I had gotten the momentum becuase the 49ers really couldn't stop me on defense as I was getting first down after first down. I got to the redzone twice. I threw a costly pick at the end of the first half and the score was 3-0 49ers at halftime.

I managed to get the ball back at halftime and proceeded to drive down the field AGAIN. This time the 49er defense held and I had to settle for a field goal. The score is now 3-3. I managed to bottle the 49ers..until Alex Smith bombed it down the field to Crabtree who made an excellent catch. I shouldn't have tried to pick it, probably should've went for the swat. Totally my fault. I managed to stop their redzone offense and they settle for 3 with 47 seconds left.

The game ended 6-3 with me unable to get anything going on the final drive. Overall, it played kinda fair. I was facing an excellent defense in the 49ers as while I DID drive on them they didn't break and held me to a FG and caused a turnover.

Oh, and the CPU run game wasn't completely anemic on All-Madden. The CPU runningback used it's juke moves much more, and even used the juke move to position itself perfecxtly to hit the open hole. It was nice to see. I mean, Gore didn't have any luck rushing to the outside, but he's not exactly a speed burner to begin with. He was really killing me running inside and establishing that power running game though. He single-handedly kept some of thier drives alive.

I had the threshold on 50 so I'm going to test it out on 0 and see if it improves...

The running animations are terrible, everyone still looks like they're on steroids, and Alex Smith looks like he's 49 years old.

I'll be passing on Madden again this year.

I actually prefer the grounded weighted feeling of players in Madden 10 over this demo. As others have said, the players dont feel like they are planting their feet when running. There is no sense of weight transfer as players pivot, jut and make cuts. They seem to be either hovering or gliding above the ground with running animations that dont even look and feel that natural.

And I have to agree with the player models....they have always looked inferior but this year they seem to look even worse. As if QBs are overly jacked up and all players have this sorta gorilla armed hang to them that looks awful. Maybe its because I have been playing alot of ALL Pro 2K8 today too. But their models look so much more realistic and have more independently moving limbs and natural motions to them.

This demo is really frustrating me because I really am looking for reasons to try and enjoy it but there's some sort of emptiness and lack of gridiron trenched immersion to it that lacks ooommmpph to it. Its very airy and light like a diet soda with no calories that also has a funny taste to it.

The wonky physics engine is really just ruining the experience for me...it just wasnt ready for prime time yet

I just played a quick game on the demo as SF. I like what I experienced for the most part, and I was stunned to see a DFI penalty called. I will have to play more, but I do like what I played.

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)

I was in the middle of playing my first game and I stopped just to post my impression. Without even finishing a game I can tell this will be my favorite Madden to date gameplay wise just from a demo alone.

The Infinity Engine is definitely a huge step in the right direction. Although I have seen some funky things like two players hitting each other and both of them flies backwards, and jittery movement while trying to get up but nothing bad that I have seen is game breaking. It seems like players are actually treated as physical objects.

Most, but not all, of the tackles look very good, im seeing realistic gang tackles, and not a lot of suction tackles. Im loving the stadium sounds also. I can hear crowd swells, and the stadium music is loud and actually sounds like it is coming from a stadium.

One thing that is going to drive me crazy is the play calling screens. It is just to small and all the assignments look bunched together.

Right now Lynch is a absolute beast. EA must walk a thin line when it comes to things like this. IRL Lynch is a beast also and most of the time it takes more then one defender to bring him down but at the same time I dont want him to be like Earl Campbell. I remember in last years demo on All-Madden, the CPU was beasting. Everyone, even Rodgers and Cutler was breaking tackles on a constant basis but everything was toned down during in the retail version. Thats why im also not concerned with things like Flynn torching me.

EA needs to turn down the big hits. Also was is there a loud crash sound during every big hit. It sticks out like a sore thumb
I will definitely tip my cap to EA for this demo. Im playing on All-Madden BTW.

I don't know why, when I played, I felt as if without the improved engine, the gameplay is not that different/almost worse.
