That's confusing I know. But the default settings for passing and shooting are set to assisted, not manual.

Given assisted settings have been the standard for years, I suppose Konami designed the command list with the thought that most players will still be using the default assisted settings. Pressing L2 is then necessary in order to activate manual controls in-game.

BTW, I'll be the first to admit I'm wrong if it turns out L2 is required to activate full manual passing. But I've spent a good half hour practicing my manual passing, both with and without using L2. And I see absolutely no difference in the passing mechanics when using L2.

Are you using the gauge that will help and you need to get used to L2 anyway for shooting.
And after yeats said the L2 is no different i think he might be right, but im not admitting im wrong yet so im watching real close.

a couple quick impressions....

-Through balls still seem a bit too effective, especially for the CPU AI.

-passing on the ground seems to be hit or miss. By that I mean, one time I can press the button for a pass and it barely rolls a few feet. While another time I can do the same pass with the same power behind it and it goes way off track to nowhere and out of reach
