Well, obviously a big complaint here is that people can't edit the ratings during CCM like everyone did last year as a work-around for poor AI-progression.

Pre-editing them before starting an old franchise fixed the roster file you started with, but what did everyone do (before last year) when they got to year 3...year 5...etc? The ratings couldn't be edited then, and everybody knew that but bought the game anyway. So what's the difference this year?

Again, I'm speaking only to the edit ratings feature because, with exception to '12, every current gen Madden has lacked it & 13 is no exception, yet a lot of people that bought '08 or 09 are skipping this. Not trying to argue, I just don't understand & am looking for clarification.

I know i cant knock down every-mole head in this joint but im gonna go down Ian Cummings style because im so impressed with this mode it deserves better attention.

Yes i know the board here should look at the faults and how to improve them but its not balanced and its really frustrating when big advances get knocked , do you want EA to slow down updating this mode. If your mega happy about the progress stand up for this mode guys! Swamp the complaints until you can barely see them!
Two of the things in last years successful upgrade were to allow rating editing.. Gone! And the unanimously popular random UDFAs also removed , the XP progression in CC is a great idea I think most people agree and looman is dedicated and kind to animals I'm sure that doesn't change my opinion.
I think that CC has much potential and is a vast improvement over the old online franchise and SS modes however as it stands at present its not ready to replace offline franchise as it lacks too much basic functionality

Custom rosters were used by different people for a multitude of reasons , for affecting gameplay and to individually re-rate players, add missing players etc obviously any gameplay effects would be watered down yearly but most people never get much farther than 5 years in anyway I think

Not trying to start a fight, just simply curious.
Edit the rosters before starting a franchise and then play the franchise. Once you have the opening day rosters done you can make adjustments to the players equipment, number, name and position until last year when ratings editing was added.

I am turned away I must admit. Why would they scrap an entire mode, one that is as significant as Franchise mode, the focal point of the game. And no player editing, THIS IS MADNESS!!!

OMG they have not, repeat have not scrapped Franchise Mode in Madden. It is simply called Connected Careers Mode now. This mode has all the basic functionality of franchise mode (except hiring coaches, and editing player ratings) with more features.

I'm not talking about opening day rosters though. A lot of posts here are saying that they want to edit ratings to work around the AI progressing or regressing players around the league incorrectly as you get more and more seasons into the franchise. I don't know about Madden 06 on up on last gen as I didn't play those, but Madden 06 - 11 on this gen did not allow you to edit them once a franchise started. So I guess I don't understand why it's a big deal now, unless it's a case of the man who sniffed a blonde and now won't go back to redheads

Draft imports, equipment & number editing, play any game--these have long been staples, more or less, of the series going back to Madden 99. I understand the frustration about those. But editing ratings is lost on me.

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?

As someone who only plays offline franchise I'm disturbed by the decision making this year. I don't know how it will play out and I think Looman is good at what he does but if I were given a choice this isn't what I would choose. As for the lack of edits, I never have edited rosters to the degree I do in baseball games but being unable to make a few necessary alterations will drive me nuts. The roster guru at EA does a good job but some of his decisions are unforgiveable and being stuck with them is the kind of thing that just eats away at me. I think it was Bill Abner who said that sports games are always flawed but whether or not the flaws are things you can live with determines whether a game will be good for you. All I can say without having played this year's edition is that I'm not encouraged.
