Given almost everyone who commented in the "Closed Nature" thread stated they're still buying the game, the answer is obviously no.

You make a well-reasoned and compelling arguement here. But I'm not sold.
Someone posted this on another board in response to a post that was probably about 300 words, and I thought, on the internet this is about the best conclusion you can expect. People who legitimately enjoy exchanging ideas on a topic could continue the discussion, but most people should just go the "agree to disagree" route as soon as possible, because "I'm right, you're wrong" seems to be what's in most people's thoughts

It is what it is.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

By that logic gameplay isn't a core feature then

Every body bought Madden in the last 10 years.

All I know is that my biggest gripe with EA football games has been the gameplay. It seems like they are FINALLY starting to address that issue with this first phase of RTP. I don't care how many "features" a game has. If the gameplay sucks I won't be playing it. They're also moving a new direction with CCM, and I'm excited about the direction its going. Yeah it sucks certain stuff wasn't able to make it in this year, but it seems like they're trying to establish a new foundation for how franchise modes are played. Seems like they're finally trying to be innovative with this game. I'm all for that because its just been stale on this gen.

I think almost all of us agree with progression in gameplay is #1 and I haven't read anything about being unhappy with the new engine including myself. This thread is only about the CCM mode and how its lack of current features has stripped many users of playing the game as they've done in the past.

What's best for the Madden community is to stop continually removing and re-adding features. What's best for the community is to keep adding features and enhancing the product.

I've never owned an NFL2K game, so I'm not a fanboy of somebody elses product. All I care about is a good NFL game. I don't care who makes it. So my next statement isn't meant to trash EA/Tib, but is their management that bad that they continually reinvent the direction of the game, that features have to be continually removed? How can anybody not be upset at how they've handled the game? Every year we have OS'ers defending the "NEW FOUNDATION" for the future. And I just LOL.
