Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head

IIRC (and somebody please correct me if I'm wrong here) we're not able to import draft classes from NCAA into this game. So this means I'll be drafting a bunch a no-name guys for years to come in my CC right? And if we can't edit rosters, I won't be able to change these rookies in any way to resemble their true to life draft classes? AND since I can no longer edit equipment/ratings (I hope you see where I'm going with this) when I draft Kenjon Barner, or whatever name EA gives the Oregon RB I draft, what happens if he comes out as a 5'11'' 195lb power back with a 78 speed? I'm just stuck with a small RB who isn't fast.

For people who edit equipment, you'll often notice rookies who come in with unreal equipment. I can't count the times I've drafted a RB or skilled guy who has a Schutt helmet with a Revolution Lineman facemask and shoulder pads shaped so awkward that my rookies look like super saiyans. Has the rookie equipment issue been addressed, or should I prepare myself to draft more super saiyans?

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head

I found a work around for not being about to edit players/rosters!!!

We (the fans) will send letters/tweets to all the players to play/look like they do in Madden 13.

We'll tell RG3 to NOT wear his arm sleeve. Justin Tuck wants a new facemask? Uh, nope...not allowed. Andrew Luck is rated at an 85? He will just have to play like it. And the opposite...players will be limited to their on-field ability if they are rated low in Madden. Big Ben has a high injury rating, then he'll have to volunteer to have his arm broken half way through the NFL season.

If you can't edit the game, edit real life to look like the game.

The majority, if not all, the options offline gamers are currently understandably disappointed about not being in CCM and MORE, have been repeatedly left out for online play. No slider sets, no player salaries, no CPU trade logic, one year we had to pay for All-Madden online ranked games, forced QB vision, blah, blah, blah.

I am reading these post where people are stating they can't believe EA/Tiburon would do something like this, when EA/Tiburon have been "doing something like this" to online gamers the entire time. I can't tell you of the number of posts, which I might should search for, when someone predominately an offline gamer would state "I don't care about online or online franchise, just improve offline" or "online franchise is the minority" in reply to threads and posts about equating or combining online/offline Franchise. Also with some offline gamers saying a flippant, "just don't play online then", year after year.

I don't mean to be a first class arsehole and I honestly do hope these options are added back but this seems like chickens coming home to roost. Maybe now that more Madden gamers get a chance to experience having frustrating limitations placed on how they have attempted to enjoy the game, we all can come together as a community to push for changes that benefit us all.
I get what you're saying, but it still makes a situation of haves and have nots. What you suggest is that it's good to now have the "rich" and "poor" per the game features completely 180-ed. I only see that as still pitting one side against the other. Logic suggests you finally give everything to everyone and quit playing sides.

This is my point exactly. I have no issues with CCM and I actually like many features that I think have the potential to drive the title forward and I also think a lot of people will really enjoy XP. My issue is really aimed at the planning and design leadership that doesn't state from the very beginning that the standard will be to not design anything that limits the ability to work with existing features and have enough downline thinking to not cripple ourselves through the design proccess.

Design and add everything you feel makes the game better but design it properly so that it plays nice with what's in the game and important to your customer. I don't want to hear XP and twitter won't work with editing players names and attributes because it's just code and the only reason it won't work is because you didn't have common sense to design it properly.

Have some standards for crying out loud and design with purpose not by just winging it.....lol

I liked being able to edit ratings in Madden 12 because player progression was sometimes quite screwed up (for example Ryan Kalil losing 4 ovr points after my 2011-2012 season in which he finished as the 4th OLman in the yearly awards, WTF?), and I agree with those saying that good things added to the game shouldn't be removed a year later.
That said, I believe the best would be to not see the ratings at all in franchise mode. That would really make you evaluate your players through preseason and it would also be nice to have back some of the features I recall from Madden 07 on PS2 that allowed you to actually use the incomming rookies in workouts and the senior bowl prior to the draft. That way you would be able to make your draft and depth chart decisions based on what player you feel plays best and not just ratings. It would be a lot closer to reality IMO.

Now, I can live without the ability to edit ratings, but not being able to edit equipments, numbers and all is pretty lame. I like to change everything about my rookies since they aren't real players, because the random rookies sometimes come out with weird equipment. I once had a rookie QB displaying a full cage helmet, max protection but no vision whatsoever haha that looked really bad...

Now I'm thinking about going NCAA this year, I enjoyed the demo and that would keep me busy until Madden 14 hopefully packing both the old and new good stuff.

TSO rates players by specifics measurements, setting more importance to certain ratings and then create a sub overall value to each player according to this formula.... This shouldn't change/be affected by what rating a player has.

So if A. Peterson is a 90 overall, a then a 90 for the Viking, 87 for the Texans and 85 for the Saints.... Why would the system not be able to adapt him being a 85 overall (with us modyfying his original ratings) and then converting those attributes to each specific system?

The system should be able to calculate any rating because it is hard data. The one issue could be that after editing a player he might not longer fit a team scheme, but I don't see how that would break the game in terms of coding.
TSOs would be calculated by weighting individual attribute ratings differntly for each team/system. With XP progression potentially adding rating points differently in each CCM the system must be able to cope with this and hence IMO should have no issues with ratings being edited either. Personally I tend to think it's the online cheating issues and the need to have contol over this which is why it has been removed, as with position changing. Heaven only knows about equipment and numbers tho!

Like "Franchise is dead, change is good" like seriously dude?? That is all you have to say?? Wtf...way kick us while were down man..c'mon he blocks a guy for linking him a page regarding a issue...who does that?? Certainly not ppl who are interested in consumer feedback...seems like looman will block anybody who has any shred of criticism for his mode...blockin ppl for being disrespectful...thats fine but blocking ppl who are linkin pages to make you aware of a issue...is a coward move, im sorry

Free us Obi Wan Kanobi, your our only hope...

You know what...this post is spot on. And I'm guilty as an offline gamer. When onliners had to deal with a bare cupboard for an online franchise experience, I looked the other way.

It's only fair that you make this assesment. There's a lot of truth in it...
