I know for a fact that there is a contingency of people that would buy NHL 13 if there were NCAA teams in it.

Not as much as it would cost to get the rights, but still. A guy can dream, can't he?

And you spelled Bemidji wrong. JK

I think I remember hearing that they 'might' be in NHL 12, but it was more likely that would get pushed back to NHL 13.

I would be stoked if they get the license to have college teams in the game!!
Gopher Guy you are correct about the article but it was actually way back in May 2010 they posted it. They said it wasn't going to be in NHL 11 but possibly in 12. Here is the link to the article http://kotaku.com/5548672/ncaa-hocke...-eas-nhl-title Now that it's NHL 13 I think things have passed over. I'm sure the NCAA is hard to win over because all they want is money. It would be a dream come true if they were to add it, but I just don't see it happening.

To satisfy myself I just create college teams with players in the game that are alumni. Normally St. Cloud, MIN, WIS, BU, BC, UND, Michigan, and Michigan State. They normally all have enough players to pick from between the NHL, AHL, and all of the Euro teams to fill a roster. It's actually fairly simple to do. It's kind of cool because you can add the college helmet to each player to. Gives it a little college feel. I've even gone as far as adding in custom sounds for St. Cloud, MN, UND, Michigan, and WIS. BTW it is unbelievable how many great players played for UND. The team is stacked except for goaltending.

I make a WCHA alumni team every year. It's always a stacked team! Toews, Parise, Heatley, Kessel, Goligoski, etc, etc

Re: NHL 13 Webcast Starting Now, Post Your Thoughts Here

I'm realy impressed with what I see so far; live goalies, smoother skating, AI especially. I have to say that I'm looking forward to strategy customization the most.

Since they did away with cutscenes, what are they doing about post-goal celebrations? Also, I'm interested in finding about exactly what "Team First Presentation" means..

Graphics: very noticeable upgrade. I noticed this from the first trailer and the screenshots, but to see actual gameplay is pretty impressive. Now all we have to wait for is some actual live, in-game footage (minus the short clips).

Only unfortunate thing is that right now, it doesn't sound like BaGM nor BaPro got very much attention, since they're integrating this GM Connected mode.

Even so, keep in mind that the EA NHL devs really aren't given a large sum of money to work with, when compared to say Madden. Hockey = smaller market versus football; the same goes for college football when compared to college hockey. It'd be nice to see NCAA incorporated into NHL games, but it's unlikely, and I doubt it'd be integrated farther than say scouting.

I hope they change the deking system. but I think it wont happen ever. it is to mechanical. and as it was in '12 where you almost stopped while you deked was very annoying.

The stopping while dekeing was to counteract the fact you could score about 90% of the time on breakaways with the same move. However players do naturally slow down IRL when they are deking. That's another thing that may be added this year to separate players. I fully agree on the skill stick. Since 07 they really haven't changed any part to it to make it more like a player would stick handle in real life. They have too much control and reach with the puck and other things that I've listed off multiple times.

It seems like I bitch about this game a lot haha. The only reason I do is because I care just as everyone else here. This game has so much potential but it's like the dev team doesn't quite understand how to make this game more replicated to real life. Maybe they've maxed out what they can do. I'm not a programmer so I wouldn't know, but I am a consumer and just as anyone else if the product hasn't been very good, you complain. I just think it's catered too much to the non traditional hockey fan, which makes it fun for them. That's probably where a lot of their sales come from though. I totally understand the game is not going to be completely realistic because hockey is IMO the toughest sport to emulate in a video game. The Show is great because baseball is a little bit simpler sport to replicate. People may disagree but the things that happen in hockey are just so much different than any other sport. The physics, speed, and bounces. Each sport is unique in their own way, but hockey is the craziest. I just don't think the dev team has shown anything the past 6 years that says we are going into the direction of realism. NHL 13 seems like it has the potential to do that so hopefully it will follow through.
