I haven't put too much time into the demo but aside from some of the faces on the golfers the game looks great. Plays pretty well too but since I have 11 and 12 with all the DLC I think I'll wait a bit on this to see what the final looks like and get a bit more feedback from here. Can the devs make the crowd face the right way all the time or is that a problem?

The question for me is why don't the devs allow one the option to disable the meter on any difficulty? I've never understood the almost complete lack of customization options in this series.

Hmmm, I seem to recall an option to disable the swing meter....I don't worry about it though as I play Kinect-only in First Person View most of the time in Tournament difficulty. Check the Gameplay Settings to see if that option is not available. If not, I would agree with you that you should have such an option.

You can customize any of the options independently - swing meter, caddy, put assist, green grid, etc. Similar to Forza the more assists you turn off the greater you XP multiplier becomes.

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions

So I heard good things about the Move implementation in this game and I couldn't resist the temptation to try it out with the demo so I bought a Move today (in a last ditch effort to like this game) and I have only 3 words that could describe the experience..... FAN-TAS-TIC!!!!!

I was shocked how intuitive it was, especially with the short game as chipping was orgasmic, and the Move lends itself much better with the new swing control if only in the fact the aiming marker does not control your swing distance for drives or putting. Everything was done by feel and those in between shots just meant a softer stroke which I guess is the idea with the joystick but the joystick is just too sensitive for distance control and much too forgiving with hitting it straight.

The control layout took awhile to figure out because this was my 1st time with the Move but once I figured out which button does what, it was very easy to set up your shot and it finally made me appreciate the endless # of shots you could set up. This is gonna be one fun party game with my buddies and for every other mode.

It may be a little forgiving with straight drives on tourney level if you have a good stroke (but you will still hook it often enough and it certainly isn;t easy) but the rewards you get when you plan and execute a well placed chip shot more than makes up for it. I had a chip a few yards off the green and it took me while to how I was gonna go about it but once I figured out the best shot type and managed to swing it perfectly, it was the best feeling I ever had with a shot in a TW game as it just ended up a few feet short of the hole.

It's not a golf simulator but it is the next best thing and just to have precision putting in there (at least it felt alot better than the joystock version which generally I find just to be a north\south game of darts where the only variable is distance control as you hit everything straight) and the enhanced short game makes this a no brainer to get if you have a PS3.

I have no idea if the Kinect version is this satisfying but as I said I think this new tempo swing's benefits are much more apparent and beneficial when you are using motion control.

Kudos to the Dev who improved the Move this year and saved the game for me this year. I feel like I'm on a real course sometimes because of the thought I have to put in some of the shots.

Note to Onlooker: If you get the PS3 version, add me as a friend (PSN is rommi) and I look forward to playing some online rounds with you (can you do that in real time with the Move?, I don't play online that much)

If you're getting the PS3 version, do yourself a favour and get the Move for it. It may be not totally perfect but it is easily the best representation of motion control golf and several steps ahead of the Wii versions I played if just for the short game alone.

A basketball game does not. Golf is a completely different genre and the real-life game of golf is the most difficult game to master on the planet. If it was a true golf simulation, most of us would be shooting in the mid-90s or worse and would break our controllers. I

If I want true simulation golf, I will go out to my local course and play 18 holes. That's the great thing about golf, you don't need to be a genetic freak to play the game and have fun. Football games are different. I want a simulation football game because real football is so exciting and fun and blocking and tackling are actually fun in real-life... plus, I can't play football competitively, so I want the game to closely mimic the sport as it possibly can.

With all that said, and the difference in the genres between golf and football, and me being an avid golfer myself, and working on qualifying for my local state amateur tournament, I love the demo. And I loved the new swing mechanics. And yeah, it might be easy, but that's the most enjoyable part of the game. I may never be able to shoot a 59 IRL... but I can at Augusta in Tiger Woods. That's so cool, shoot a 59 at Augusta... it may never be done, but I can make it a reality in a video game. Pretty cool. Now, some people may hate that bc it's not realistic. But, for me, golf is such a tough game in real life, that it's fun to actually be able to do that.

Anyway, I really liked the demo and will probably be picking this game up. Just my .02
This basically sums it up. We want all the popular sport games to be sim because we can't even go out there and do that. Anyone can go out on a golf course, so if you want sim go play a round.

When it comes to a golf sim, people want the ability play as a pro or like a pro, much like they do in games like Madden and FIFA.

People want to play these games and shoot a round at -5 and compete in tournaments of players shooting similar numbers. This can be done realistically by giving the user the ability to hit the ball longer, farther and more accurately then they really could on a golf course...basically giving them the talent that the pro golfers have.

However, they still want the challenge of managing a golf course. They need to read the green right, properly account for the wind and take a nice swing to get the ball where they want it. If they don't do those things, they'll end up in the water, a green side bunker or the rough.

What I'm reading as the primary complaint (I can't get the demo yet so I haven't played it, but I've been keeping up with this thread) is in putting you don't need any feel at all. All you need to do is read the green right. That's the sim aspect that people are missing. They want to have to read the green right and put the right touch on their putt in order for it to be good.

So I'm not sure I agree when someone says if you want a true golf sim, go out to the real course. No...if I want to go golfing, I'll go out to a real golf course. If I want to compete in a PGA Tour event, I need a sim game that gives me the ability to compete at the level but still manage most of the aspects of the game that a professional would. Likewise, if I want to play soccer I'll grab a ball, call some friends and head to the park. If I want to play in the champions league, I'll need to turn on my xbox.
