Golf can't be sim while other sport games can be? That makes no sense. Applying your same logic here, playing a realistic/sim football video game would then mean all the couch potatoes here at OS would be getting sacked every play, or would fumble or trip, and/or would turtle up at the first glimpe of a 300 lb lineman zeroing in on them.

Perhaps you have simply misremembered all the realistic golf sims that have come out over the past couple of decades? (Not that I'm commenting one way or the other on the TW 13 demo as I haven't played it yet.)

Yeah I hate that "well if it's not sim enough for ya, then go play real golf". Well what do you say about the guy who lives in the Northeast (like me) and can only play golf from May to October? A sports video game is a nice diversion when you're stuck in the house much more often. It's a ridiculous statement and just a convenient excuse for a sports game's shortcomings.

Let's be honest, as far as AI is concerned a video golf game doesn't have much to worry about compared to basketball or football (which takes up alot of developer's time) so making it more simlike should be an easier undertaking than team sport games.

How do you figure when there are 150 or so golfers for every tournament playing at least 36 holes per round then, another 70 or so playing the final 36 holes? There are numerous data points for each golfer's stats with which to determine how the golfer will play each round with all of the course variables. 150 golfers versus 22 football players on the field at any given time or 1o basketball players on the court at any given time.....can't see where you come to your conclusion "as far as AI is concerned a video golf game doesn't have much to worry about" .......

The only thing is these data points are calculated in the backround and probably not in real time, the only visual representation is the leader board, you don't see all 150 golfers swing at one time. Having AI for 22 player and the visual representations of the multitude of outcomes based on various data calculations being represented in real time is way more taxing than a golf game, it's not even close.

Since I do not write AI code and I am assuming you don't either, all we have are our opinions and they obviously vary.......keep in mind I am not suggesting Golf AI code is as complex as football, soccer, or basketball, but I do not agree that it is not even close....

when playing with the kinect can you swing with a real golf club in your hands or not?

22 football players all need to be aware of each other and make decisions based upon what the others are doing. That makes it exponentially more difficult to program than golfers in a tournament. I'm a software developer and I can tell you creating CPU AI for golf would be far easier. Just sayin.
