This won't work due to the new controls.

And it shouldn't be automatic - you have to account for people of all skill levels.

The problem is the "hands up" part is also automatic, based on vicinity to the shooter. It should be user controlled if they flick to the defender with the RS after they begin their shot. It makes sense the tight defense is automatic, but not if you are closing in on a shooter - you have run with your hands up to have it trigger.

More involvement by the user - my entire point. It's EVERYWHERE this year... except this one little area.

Hey Pared...chill...the "auto contest" is not really "automatic"....you control it by pressing the left trigger or right stick.

It is - that's not user controlled.

To the same extent, that's like moving your player around on offense and having the CPU shoot when you're open.

It needs to be completely user dependent IN ADDITION to the auto-contest.

Either way - we should have word on how it works soon. The way this is now, if the shooter pumpfakes, you would never bite - because it is done by you just holding either of those inputs.

^ But it is automatic. It can't be done by the user if he is controlling a defender that isn't guarding the ball handler. That is not 100% control. That is what his issue is.

That is almost as bad as having a post up button but not being able to post up around the perimeter, ala Magic and GP.

I like most of what I read but I hope more light is shed on a few things. Im not thrilled about user controlled players have more of an impact simply because the user is controlling them. If a player has high defensive ratings he should be able to hold his own when controlled by the AI. Im also not quite digging good chuncks of on ball D being automnated. We'll see how all this plays out...

i understand where youre coming from

but fam, I just want defense... for too long people have gotten to go crazy on offense without the skill... I dont care how they implement it as long as its there I will adapt lol...

the reason it doesn't bother me is that the auto contest animation is not a "full contest" animation...it's only a weak "hand up" animation where the defender doesn't leave his feet....so if you really want to bother the shot with a "full contest" you still have to press the block button and time it right. i'm sure the "auto contest hand up" animation won't be as powerful as a "full contest" in which the block button is used. so a user with more skill and timing will still have an advantage using the block button over the auto contest.
