That's a fair point, but the one in 2k7 was (edit: mostly) visual.

Ha - I'm simply focused on specific points that I would like to see improved. Tunnel vision so to speak. To see specific things not be implemented a certain way is frustrating, now moreso than ever.

While it may see as if I'm glossing over the improvements, those that have been here long enough know they are appreciated. It may not come off that way in the forum as of late - but again, tunnel vision.

We have been discussing how this should work for a few years now - it should be user controlled, in the sense the user can manually challenge a shot with one hand without leaving their feet.

I still think I am reading it incorrectly or misunderstanding it; It seems as if you can just move around with your hands up and have the defender auto-contest.

You say that now. Give it about 2-3 weeks after release and 1. People will think the game is too difficult ala 2K8 and 2K11 and they'll dumb it down or 2. Some tactic that's impossible to defend will be exposed.

That being said, doubling on drives, hedging and how to defend screens is huge. I could kill people who won't change defensive settings because screens and pindowns are a huge part of my offense.

It seems like it is manually automatic. Which makes it automatic. It should be 100% manual.

Tap Y = Hands up
Hold Y = Hands up + Jump

Tap Y + RT = Two hands up
Hold Y + YT = Swat Attempt

I see what pared is saying, it would be nice if it was more about anticipation and quick reaction than just holding down LT or hands up whenever ur in the paint. Alteast have more of a risk/reward depending on how u time it...def on the right track tho, love what theyve shown us so far.

I just hope that it is actually balanced and has room for diff outcomes, sometimes you make difficult shots that are perfectly defended and sometimes you miss seemingly easy shots. For example the wrap up foul- players like D howard and Lebron r strong enough to finish even when u try to wrap them up. So the wrap up animation shouldnt be the end all be all. Im just tired of seeing the beginning of an animation and already knowing wut the outcome will be. Maybe thats wut they mean by more branching. Either way Im looking forward to the game.

Yep, just like 2K11 did with the passes last year. It was fine before the patch then too many people cried and 2K gave in. I know it will happen again this year. I just know it.

It should be based on fatigue, physical momentum, strength rating

you can always switch to the center to get blocks. But yeah, guess we should wait til the demo or game drops to decides.

this insight is the best one by far...HOLY....thy literally fixed EVERY SINGLE issue from 2k11's defense...the depth of control in 2k12 is simply the best I've ever heard of in any video game...you can literally perform any type of motion or action that you can possibly think of.

they FINALLY shifted the balance...now defenders actually have the proper tools to stop the ball handler (in terms of speed and actions you can perform).

i like the auto contest....because it's not truly an "auto" contest - you can control it with the left trigger or right stick...
