Re: Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2011 Impressions

Hey guys. I keep coming back to this game and trying to learn the ins and outs (in the military so sometimes go weeks without access to my ps3). But anyways a few things i wondered:

1. Do you recommend the power swing? maybe only in certain counts when your sitting on a pitch or is it really worth it all together?

2. Is it necessary to use the push hit button always when the ball in on the outer half? and reverse for pulling on the inside?

thanks

I'll give you my impression, but Muka is the expert.

Look at ALL your players special abilities. Take Eishen Soyogi (#6 - SS) on the Carp for example:
- He has the opposite field power attribute, so I pretty much swing opposite field always for him (circle).

Take notes for all of them. Those with power swings and trajectories, swing power (normal or opposite) on hitting counts 2-0, 2-1, 3-1.

When I typically get behind in the count is when I will switch from normal to opposite field swing to give me a little more time.

Also note the situation involved. Runner on 2nd with no outs, I'll typically swing opposite to get that ground ball to the right side to advance that runner.

Also note you can swing opposite with the power swing turned on.

I've also had a lot more success with SAC flies swinging opposite versus normal.

I never swing normal or opposite based on ball location, thats too much coordination for me. If I am trying to hit opposite and the ball's inside I will simply take the pitch if I can take it.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

HAHA I blow at this game online. Through 6 games I have yet to score a run and have been run ruled 3x. I've been doing the batting practice mode a lot with settings on hard and real batting point on and stuff. Any tips for hitting?

Set the difficulty settings to what you want;
Move the pitching speed to the slowest;
Play 10 or so games and see how well you are doing (just start a pennant and look at your team ba);
If you're hitting better, move the speed up one notch;
Rinse and repeat until you hit the speed you want to stay at.

I was looking on ebay at both the '10 and '11 versions of this game. I was thinking I should get the 2010 edition because it's like $20 cheaper, and the spiritstranslation.com website is set up for that specific edition. My questions are... are the menus in 2011 very similar to 2010's menus (so i could still use the website), and is 2011 a better game than 2010?

Sorry to be that guy, but Jikkyō Powerful Pro Yakyū is the exact Konami game that MLB Power Pros is an American cousin to. This one's the less life simmy realistic baseball game Konami develops. Your point's still valid 'n' all, but I'm just saying.

Spiritstranslation.com is setup for 2011. There is a 2010 archive for 2010.

Re: Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2011 Impressions

I just got this game....I need some help with my settings and hitting approach.

I am pretty good at the show and I won my first few games on here, but I think it was on easy mode. I looked online for some setting advice and I amped up the difficulty.

I have the cpu pitching on Hard- and it seems not very realistic...they never throw mistakes...ever. Is that realistic in Japan? I doubt it. So this may be my problem right there. Its basically look for a pitch on the black every pitch and when I do hit it...it usually is a ground out.

My pitch speed is on Middle+. I think this is fine honestly. I doubt I change this to help me.

Hitting is on normal and not real...I think anyways.

From what I've been reading online these are the main settings for vets. I want the game to be a little challenging and I expect to struggle, but I don't expect to be getting shut out every game when I am making good contact and drawing walks. Do I need to steal more? hit and run? I don't know. I've never been an aggressive player in that regard.

As for my hitting approach....I am basically desperate and I only look to go opposite field with normal swing. Power has done nothing for me. I put the ball in play a lot, but the cpu never messes up on defense whereas my guys are slow to reacting so that doesn't seem too fair. BTW CPU defense is on normal too and I haven't seen one error from them, while my guys commit errors all the time.

It seems impossible to pull the ball and I can't even tell if I am early or late half the time. It seems I am early more than not. I just cannot consistently get the cursor on the ball I guess. I am barely missing. Do you guys keep it in the middle before the pitch or you looking in a certain zone? I keep mine low and look for anything low or away to slap it to opposite field. Pulling seems like a waste as it only results in a jam shot or a swing and a miss.

Tips?
