Re: Fight Night Champion Title Update #2 Available Now, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 3

I just fought a guy who chased me the entire fight. I'm not a runner at all, but I circled the middle of the ring and used movement. He was a pressure fighter. While using movement I was still able to land the cleaner and more effective punches.

It went to a decision and I won every round except the 9th round. He threw 900 punches, I threw 600 and had a better punch percentage by 3%.

The reason he lost is because he kept throwing in flurries. Every time he attacked he threw about 3-4 punches at a time, and I simply made him miss by moving. He was gassed by the 10th round and I knocked him down.

The key in this game now is to pick your punches. You cant throw the same 3-4 punch flurries you could before the patch. If you miss 2 of those punches, your stamina is gonna disappear in no time.

After throwing 600 punches and fighting on the backfoot for almost the entire fight, I still ended with about 50% stamina. Not bad at all.

I'd say that's realistic too. What I'm doing now is never letting my stamina drop low. That's a killer. I jab and move for the first few rounds. That keeps me in good condition. after that I start setting up punches and combinations, but I never go in with the intention to throw a 3 punch combo. Not unless my opponent is extremely vulnerable.

Not sure if I'm completely on board but I can say I was off when I said it was terrible.

We are all very impressed. What were your respective punch landed percentages?

I just fought Hearns with Cotto. The strategy I always employ in these situations is get inside his range, do work, then get back out and use angles to tag him from the outside. I threw under 600 punches, landed about 60%, but because stamina has been so severely mangled, I ended up dragging like a sloth in the 10th with about 10% stamina left. You must not care all that much how often you're hit. That's the only thing I can think of. I try to consistently keep my opponent around 30-35% connect percentage. It's virtually impossible to do that now because I can't effing move around the ring if I want to.

I'm digging it Money - fought 3 or 4 fights yesterday with new patch and it plays so much better (on GOAT btw). First fight I went HW Holy (me) vs Old George Foreman and in the first round opened up a nasty gash under the eye that I haven't seen in a while. Knocked him out in 8 rounds, chopped him down like a tree - moved in and out the whole fight.

The other fights were also much more realistic imo - loving the stamina setting - it's pretty close to perfect imo

if you have the time to edit each and every boxer in the game , the offline gaming can be excellent.

One boxer takes 5 minutes to edit, so no big deal.

with no editing....the cpu fighter will gas themselves out by round 4-5 and you will get the easy KO nearly everytime....

but if you edit, the game WILL open up.

I have edited Tyson and Lewis, and so far have tested out me using Lewis.

if you edit so that a slugger like Tyson averages 50 punches a round throwing lots of bombs in the process btw, the patched stamina with default stamina slider will be good for heavyweight bouts. maybe 8/10 for lighter classes so a fightrer with high stamina can throw 70-80 punches a round.

back to my game:

with edits, you can get the stamina right
the patch has made accuracy lower
not only 1pko are back (lower frequency), but a good solid punch can turn the tide more often.
outside fighting can still be done: was boxing tyson beautifully and peppering him with jabs and straights and traded rounds with him until the 7th until he put me down twice in the round and finished me.

I will definitely be able to dominate the lower echelon brawlers with Lewis' outside fighting. You can't run the whole round like, but you can definitely use distance and reach to your advantage. before the patch, it was overly easy to dominate fights with the tall guys, now it is much more balanced.

in conclusion, offline gameplay can be awesome with edits.....but then again it limits you to play now and I know you're a huge career mode guy. if you can't edit fighters, your tysons, fraziers, pacquiaos and other agressors will be drained by the 5th round and you will be able to win 9 times out of 10.

hope this gives u a better idea of the game post-patch

Uy, I'm sorry guys, but I'm done. Maybe it's just me, because even the skeptics in the crowd here seem to be warming up to the patch, but to ME--- the patch has completely removed my ability to play in a style that I consider "realistic." I just fought this guy on my friend list--- I was Cotto and he was Pacquiao. After 3 rounds, I was literally unable to keep him off my chest. All he did was come forward the entire fight, averaging 100 punches a a round. I averaged about 50, but my footwork completely sapped my stamina every round and I never stood a chance. I landed 40/49 counters to his 1/2, but it didn't matter. In the 8th, I got knocked down for the 4th time and that was it.

Re: Fight Night Champion Title Update #2 Available Now, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 3

Here's a fight I finished a little bit ago. i'm posting pictures to show how you can keep your stamina and still move. It is still hard to evade an aggressive guy, but if you can hold out long enough he will diminish to nothing.

Here is my guy at round 5:

Here is my guy at the start of round 8:

And here are the results:

As you can see, my approach was very conservative. what I'm doing is moving away and jabbing once. No other punch. I move around some and jab. I then try and incorporate some hooks and uppercuts where I think i have a chance. Other than that I'm very cautious. This guy fell to pieces in the eight and had nothing left.

I'm not saying it's perfect. It's still very hard to get away from GOOD aggressive guys. but for me the formula that works best is to be very conservative with punch output.

I think it's clear that EA does not devote enough time or funds to testing their games across all of the sports games they produce. There are MANY MANY things that should be caught in the first hour of testing a game, especially if you have more than 1 person testing it at the same time.
