Re: NCAA Football 12 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)

I like the way the demo played. Punt returns and kick returns felt much better than prior years. In the past punt returns were usually stuffed and kick returns usually went out to the same distance on the field, not much variety. It felt like there was more fluid and real with more chance to make something happen on returns now.

In general, the new tackling system made the whole game feel more like that now.

Also, I saw more just off target throws, where in the past incompletions were usually the result of random drops or swatted balls. And the drops I saw in the demo were from the receiver getting hit as the ball arrived or just after the ball arrived, so they were not bad drops like in the past.

There did seem to be a problem with blitz pick-up, blitzes are far too effective, like 75% or more effective. If that is not resolved in the full retail, hopefully sliders will help. And I am talking about me blitzing the CPU. If it can't be fixed, I would basically have to restrict the amount of blitzes I call in order to make a fair game against the CPU.

There were a couple times, and maybe it was just the speed of the ball carrier, but it seemed the whole game speed just sped up at times on a couple running plays.

I was able to run out of the shotgun and run the read option (when I could properly remember the cues :-P) with Oregon. Seriously, I need to go back and re-study how to run the read option. :-)

I think it plays better, more fluid than NCAA11. The decreased suction is a very welcome site. I've never been in aww graphically with any NCAA demo, as they don't seem to be as polished in that dept. I typically look at how it plays, and how gameplay changed. Definitely not perfect (even for a demo), but you can definitely tell the difference from last year to this year.

Same here. I think one thing people don't realize is that the 360 automatically upscales to the highest resolution a game offers. The PS3 basically defaults to 720p, to give the better framerate, but less sharpness and detail. For the guys that had both systems, force your PS3 into 1080p, then compare the versions.

And as for cables, yeah $.99 cables are just as good as $99 cables, LOL.

Re: NCAA Football 12 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)

I have not read this thread and have not posted my thoughts.

I downloaded both demos 360 and PS3

The game plays very smooth and feels nice, I am not a huge fan of the pinball affect when hitting a ball carrier from the side.

To me the removal of suction is great but it seems that it has led to more non physical tackles from certain angles. It kinda feels like they removed the suction which engaged collision detection and now it just kinda looks like when you throw a side hit or hit a ball carrier when another is holding him. It feels like you are tackling air but in reality you are tackling the ball carrier. Feels weird.

I noticed that the PS3 version lags in choosing a play. When you run no huddle and scroll through formations it takes time for the plays section to catch up to the formation. This is not an issue on the 360

Besides that it is all good. Except I saw some glaring issues with A.I

The CPU up 3 with less then a minute to go on a 3rd down and me having no time outs, decided to throw on 3rd and 14 WTF. Kirk stared saying it was a dumb move by the offense with the game in hand and needing to just kneel.

The pass was thrown out of bounds but the 4th down play but the issue is that when the offense went back to their 4th down formation the clock was running even though it was an incomplete pass on 3rd down. WTF

Besides those issues, the game was nice and I will get it for sure.

Might get it on PS3 due to it having DTS

Except those of us that have 1080p TV's and our PS3's set to 1080p still notice the "meh" quality.

it looked damn good on my ps3 and tv and it was only displaying it in 720p. looked better than ncaa11 on 360 to me. id rather it show it in 1080p, but thats what it auto scanned in as so i guess that was the default for the demo.

it did have a few frame issues where it bogged down a lil for a few secs, but i dont see what anybody could really be complaining about graphically. i havent played demo on my 360 yet, but i will soon since thats what ill be buying it on and to unlock the combat jerseys. im not expecting any noticeable diff tho.

as far as gameplay...liked it. seemed harder to me on d but that may be cuz ive taken a lil break from 11 like a month ago and i still gotta get used to tackling with the tackle button. the lack of suction is noticeable all over and very welcome. that also takes some getting use to. i got good pressure and sacks with texas and florida st. i like the game and think it feels like a smoother more polished 11. interactions look more polished and less jerky. overall itll be a solid title. cant wait for madden since i think it will be even better than this. good yr for football gms!

My display settings in the ps3 are all maxed...is that the reason why to me the game appears to have bad graphics?...
