Re: Phil Frazier the Latest to Leave EA Sports Tiburon Studio

not too worried about either loss since the series has been sub par when they were around. gives that company a chance to grab some talent that isn't falling asleep at the wheel from making the same game every year. great news, in my opinion.

3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.

Madden does have sideline catching; they took a while to get it, and lied about having it in Madden 10 when we had to wait until Madden 11 to get it, but they do have it.

Madden has double team blocking in the running game; double team blocks don't occur with the oline is pass-blocking. If you've seen any E3 videos with double team pass blocking, please post a link. I'd like to see it.

The jury is still out on route running in Madden 12. First, we need to see if the routes are connected to the drop of the QB; second, we also need to see if throwing the ball before the wr makes his break on a dig, out-route, post, or corner route turns the route into a go route.

The pass rushing animations, and the AI from what I've seen, is still better in the other game. The DE's get up the field and, many times, don't engage the Tackle until they're at the same depth as the QB. Many times they're at the same depth when the QB finishes his drop. I haven't seen this at E3. Maybe it's the difficulty setting, but I haven't seen it.
You do realize the E3 version was alpha build right? Hell the version we played at early May community event was farther in the dev cyclelol.

On top of that though, this one paragraph epitomizes what made me so upset with this team:

I could not for the life of me understand that with these supercomputers we have, we still have only 4 camera angles to choose from. Racing games got more camera angles than this, FPS games got more camera angles. We should have had TV style presentation years ago, we had it last gen but not now??

Pre, Post and Halftime shows are basically STILL not in the game.. That "game" that some says is the greatest football game ever, had all this and it just makes me upset to go to you tube and look at that video of this games halftime show and it makes you want to scream at these guys WAKE UP!!. That "game" even had a weekly wrap up show!! A weekly wrap up... Only ONE OTHER GAME has gone the length to add this and these games were made by the same company...

The "wait until next year" thing was in my opinion saying to gamers "What we want to do with this game matters MORE to us than what you want to have in this game". After '09, somebody on that team should have booted up a copy of Madden ps2, COMPLETELY dissected those games and said "OK lets start with these features FIRST".
On top of that, NBA 2k11 pretty much blew that excuse out the water and the "suits" could not lean on that excuse anymore when it comes to their philosophy of "Well if we re add features a little bit at a time then people will think its a "new" game". Not thinking that most gamers KEEP their old games so shame on them.

Honestly, I love the new direction, I haven't been excited about playing a Madden like this in years and the first time in almost 10 that I plan on buying both football games. Heck, I havent bought a FIFA game since the genesis days and I'm planning on buying FIFA 12 this year! So I like the new direction EA Sports is going. The games should be more geared to the TV style presentation because its much more enjoyable and thats how we all REALISTICALLY enjoy our sports. Theres no way you can experience sports games "on the field" through a x" TV screen. Some gamers are gonna cry about this but I say if you want that then have your brother or girlfriend punch and kick you when the hits occur in the game..a vibrating controller ain't the same.. sorry..

Ian will always be a cool dude just because of the pains he went through to add the Broadcast cam for me and the boys of the BBC. I will remember him for that.

Thats my 2c's

Madden 09 was not Ian/Phil. That game was nearing beta when they took over. Way too late to make major changes.

I'd advise to not even bother with him.

With all due respect, may I ask, What's your point??
College Hoops 2k was made for this gen systems right??
If that game could do it.... and a PLAYBOX could do it..
Why couldn't they do it??

Tech is an excuse and again, NBA 2k proved that..
Next...

Re: Phil Frazier is Leaving EA Sports Tiburon

"It bares pointing out that Madden 12 is really "Year 2" in Ian's 3 year plan, as Madden 11 ran into unforeseen difficulties in production that kept it from being the YoY leap from M10 that it was supposed to be. Still, some of the technological improvements on M11 are going to be central to the overall push we make for the next few years."

This pretty much explains why m11 was such a let down compared to m10. Not trying to take his words and spin it the wrong way, but I must say that m11 was a real disappointment. While I haven't been a fan of any of the Madden's in this generation starting from madden 06 due to the removal and lack of features in addition to broke physics, AI, and arcade type gameplay, the improvement from 09 to 10 was pretty significant. Although m10 had its issues, the improvement from 09 and 10 made me believe in EA again.

Before m11 came out, there was a lot of information from EA through the community interaction which gave everybody so much hope. I think some of the community guys were able to get their hands m11 during development and all i saw was glowing reviews and how the community will love m11 as it was a drastic improvement over m10. Now i am seeing the same thing this year with them saying" everyone is going to be happy"...

Finally, the game came out and I could not believe what I was playing after reading about how issues from past maddens are finally fixed and this was the year m11 will be back on the map. Real quick, here is what I thought were issues with m11:

1) terrible defensive AI
2) arcade gameplay. The physics were not humanely possible with the spin being an example. How is it some dude spins like 5 yards diagonally?
3) canned animation
4) suction
5) lack of gang tackling even with this new tackling system.
6) warping
7) abused flats
8) terrible oline/dline
9) lack of online franchise improvement and much more stuff

Aren't all these familiar issues throughout the years? Yup same old issues.

It has been six years and even with all this talk about improvements, i still take it with a grain of salt We will see how it turns out.

While phil and ian had good intentions on putting out a great game, it just seemed like the same old thing again. Cover up lack of improvements with new gimmicky features and additions. Did we need rewind?gameflow?stratpad, iq, etc? Not really. Lets redo the interface and the playcalling screen and how you pick make it look brand new. Lets do all these things, but focus on the real issue with the game, gameplay!Presentation!realism!

I see all the time from EA guys "we are listening!" I cant remember anytime somebody asked for a strat pad feature, gameflow and all this stuff because here we are again, complaining about the same old issues. All i read every year is gameplay improvements, franchise improvements and presentation. Sounds like to me they are listening but not to the community. Ian and phil will be alright, but I think it will be best with new blood came in to improve the game. Tired of the same broken engine every single year
