First of all, you are absolutely right about special teams, they are a big part of the game in real life and shouldn't be overlooked. I am well aware of Frank Beamer's influence on his special teams program and the success they have year in and year out.

I guess what I was trying to say is that, in a game where even the most realistic aspects can be exploited unfairly, it probably is more difficult than we think to program a fair way to block kicks once in a while and not be able to do it every single time

You're right though, it isn't very exciting when you know the kick will never be blocked....

How many blocked kicks does the best team in that category have in a season typically? 9?

So yeah blocked kicks happen, and it would be great if they were more accurate in the game, but it would get really old if guys figured out how to block a kick or more every game.
True story-back in the PS1 days I had a Madden buddy who figured out that if he lined up in a certain goal line D he could literally make it impossible for the other guy to kick fg's. It didn't matter if was a 60 yarder or an extra point, nor did it matter how fast you tried to get the kick away -- if you tried it it was getting blocked. Used to drive me absolutely nuts.

For that reason I am firmly in the "too few blocks is better than too many" camp.

Exactly. It would end up dong more harm than good, and that's what needs to be considered every year when adding something.

Also if anyone is looking for some NCAA 12 gameplay, check the facebook page. There's "RAW" gameplay of Ohio State vs Nebraska in a night game
