Nice article.

The Show is a great game if you like not having control of anything that happens in the game, if you do like to have some influence then PYS is hands down #1!

PYS is easily the best baseball game in my opinion. When I'm playing the best description I can give is that its a video game that feels like real baseball compared to the other baseball games that feel like a video game. (hopefully you get what I'm trying to convey)

Too bad it costs like 120.00$. Are there any cheaper ways than amazon to purchase this game?

You can probably find it for about $85 at some places. Or if you have never played PYS, and just want to get acquainted with the series, you can look into an older version... either PYS6 or PYS2010 are very good, and usually run $30-40 used.

I really like PYS a lot, and there are a lot of things that are very well done (cursor hitting, baserunning controls, presentation), but overall, I think The Show is still the better game. PYS is definitely a close 2nd. I really really love the hitting and baserunning in PYS tho. PYS is a more pick up and play type game, despite the language barrier (which isn't too bad to overcome). It is also easier (default difficulty) out of the box than The Show, IMO.

Nice impressions Caley! It's obvious you really spent some time with the game learning all of it's features. And you didn't even get into all the modes available such as Grand Prix, online manager mode, Stardom and Spirits. Not your fault because these haven't been translated yet, but hopefully someday we'll get there. But it goes to show you how deep this game is.

It should be around $95 which includes shipping from Play-Asia. If you want to order please consider visiting our home page and clicking the order button. We're a Play-Asia affiliate and get a few bucks off each order which helps us pay the bills.

Re: Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2011 Impressions

Wow, very nice to see another feature story on Pro Yakyu Spirits. 2 thoughts:

1. I agree that the special skills system needs to come over to MLB games in the states and I have no idea why it hasn't. 2K Sports was responsible for bringing over the American version of MLB Power Pros. Power Pros has a ton of special skills, so 2K should know about them. Still, they have yet to borrow the ideas and implement it into their MLB 2K games even though they are struggling so much against The Show. Wasted opportunity there.

2. I think the little attention we English speakers are bringing to Pro Yakyu Spirits has to have caught Sony's and 2K's eyes since they are both very active and friendly with the OS forums and the online fanbase. This can only lead to good things.
