This is exactly right.

While I do think the concept of online franchises are cool, all those factors are huge reasons why most online franchises go belly up or get lame. Lack of time or people losing interest.

This sums it up pretty well IMO...

Online franchises revolve around 32 (or how many ever you have) people.

Offline franchise revolves around one person.

Dont get me wrong, if you have 32 (or whatever) people that have the same schedules, alot of free time, and the desire to play it that much, then an online franchise would be amazing. But more often than not, thats not the case. Im willing to bet there are more online franchises that fail than those that even go a complete season.

On top of that, some dont have internet connectivity, or at least its not that good or dependable. And what if something like the PSN debacle happens again?

Again...I hope online franchise is great, but even if I were a huge fan of both, Id much prefer offline, because it revolves around my schedule.

I was just going to ignore the requests for offline franchise to be improved "before" online franchise but I just can't hold my peace! LOL

Please, PLEASE, stop pretending as if these modes currently being separate, makes any sense. NCAA has a college franchise mode called Dynasty mode and it is ONE mode that can be played online or offline. That's what Madden franchise should be and hopefully will be this year.

Regardless of if you love playing offline for whatever reason or hate playing online for whatever reason, it should just be ONE franchise mode.

WOW, So they basically add in features that are EXTREMELY SIMILAR to what they had in the past, use new descriptive words, ignore online franchise (apparently), and this is the new commitment?

I've never understood the excitement about practice squads. What's the big deal about adding a few more low rated players to your roster. 99% of practice sqaud people are bums, that's why they aren't on the regular roster.

Maybe tomorrow will prove me wrong, but none of these features seem like a big deal to me

Online franchise can't quite work the same way as online dynasty does. The two particular events preventing this involve more live elements, that being the NFL Draft and, specifically for Madden 12, free agent bidding.

To elaborate: every action in NCAA's online dynasty can be broken up into discrete steps that doesn't require each player to be online simultaneously to perform; for example, recruiting is broken up into five stages in the offseason, each team puts in its plan independently, and then the game runs the results. This can't be done for the NFL Draft; all the players must be allowed to be present simultaneously to do it due to the dynamic nature of the event. Same with the new free agent bidding system. To Madden's credit, one of the things the existing online franchise does in fact have is a draft mechanism where all players can join and leave as they please while the draft operates.

In short, it's a separate but related set of technical challenges that's different enough for it to be its own game mode. Not to say I wouldn't like to see it done, however, I absolutely do.

1) They've paid enough attention to online users over the years. It's about time offline players get some love.

2) Way to assume they haven't done anything to OF when they haven't even spoken about online or the rest of franchise mode yet.

3) Dynamic Player Progression, live FA bidding, expanded rosters, etc. were never in last-gen. Just because they added Player Roles that they had in PS2 Madden 07 (something pretty much every franchise user has wanted) doesn't mean the world is on fire and this is somehow a bad thing, so people need to stop with that ****. The ones complaining that an old feature is returning are the EXACT same ones that would be bitching if it wasn't.

4) People want practice squads because -- surprise! -- they wanted realism and want their franchise mode to resemble the real NFL.

5) Just because these features aren't a big deal to you, doesn't mean they aren't to a lot of other people.

Dynamic weather is a must.

Playing in rain in Jacksonville in week 3 no matter what year, what season.... or snow in the playoffs in Cleveland last year was a joke of all jokes and is pure plum dog laziness on a developer's part. And something they never addressed as to why they cut corners on.

LOL @ integration with The Weather channel (or lack of)

I don't see how the lack of dynamic weather is "laziness" on the part of EA Tiburon. It's not like they can just plug evolving weather during games into the game in a blink of an eye.

What other sports video game to this point has even had dynamic weather, anyway? As far as I know, FIFA doesn't have it, NCAA doesn't, and neither of the MLB games do. Point is, it's not easy to do and the developers chose to spend their resources elsewhere.
