• WR route running looked more organic

DISLIKES
• super strafing - electric slide? wheres the proper backpedal technique?
• hunchback running still exists, at full speed your back would be straight
• the sliding and gliding still looks like NHL game
trench battles still looked static
• defense runs as fast backwards and sideways as a fully accelerated WR

• acceleration out of moves such as jukes and spins seems too fast
I agree with many of these points.

Trench battle wise, this is one of my biggest pet peeves and I complain about it every year. It just doesn't look right in these games, even on kickoffs guys run full speed and then just stand still and engage in a block animation.

As far as the defense though, I have to admit, while it may not be super realistic, I think its a necessary evil. Obviously this game is not perfect, the engine has flaws that the guys at EA seem unwilling or unable to fix, so if we have to live with fast packbedaling defenders to actually have strong defenses and good zone coverage this year, I will gladly take that,GLADLY, over what we had this year.

For the guy earlier that criticized MY criticism of the play against UF where the skinny post is ran right at a UF zone defender (the play the actual EA zone defense video said that zone would now stop for once), I realize this is just one game and that is just one play and the route being show just one time, I think its funny however that the ball literally whizzes right past the UF linebacker (i dont know that team at all but I know they always have athletic LBs) and it looks like it really should have been an incomplete pass. I am paranoid, as I admitted, because the skinny post was so exploitable in NCAA 11, so I just had to point out when I saw that it worked way too easily in this early showing of the game. Not a big deal, so please relax.

And guys, I am sorry but it is wrong to harp on people who harp on the dreads. This is a marketed "new feature," and I guarantee you it will be on the game box this year, but right now it looks like a 5 year old put it together, it looks beyond bad. I don't care, I never asked for dreads in the first place, but they put this video out for us to take in and observe, all things good and bad, and they are definitely very bad.

My overall thoughts are the game looks a lot better. I know the presentation aspects during the actual game are very similar to NCAA 11, but guys please look past that, watch the plays themselves, everything seems to play better in all areas which is a big deal.

Looks like they spent a year working on dreads and pregame stuff that once you have seen it, one will quickly skip to get to the game.
I can't argue with the fact that it looks the same, it does, well kinda (I think it still looks better), but you gotta look at the plays man, it plays a lot better even in this early build. A LOT better

First things first, the good. The graphics are beautiful. The lighting is awesome and the grass looks great. I love that they brought in the ESPN style themes in the pre-game and during quarter changes. The running looked a little smoother as did the tackling. As a FSU fan, I'm pretty sure I'll always play the Osceola/Renegade spear plant when there is a big game (rivals or top 10 opponent) because it really does kind of get me pumped.

But that's as far as I can praise. While it's nice to get some presentation upgrades with the ESPN graphics, it still isn't very broadcast-like because the replays themselves are not broadcast style. When they decided to add those unrealistic replays last year, I hated it because I knew it killed any chance that replays would ever feel like a broadcast. That's the area in presentation where the 2K franchise shines in basketball, as it really does feel like watching a TV broadcast replay. But having cameras near the players feet, looks silly IMO and really just makes me want to skip all replays. Even more, they cut from one angle to another angle right as the play ends. That's what you would find in a trailer of a video game, not a broadcast style replay. I don't get why they are trying to add arcade replays while at the same time going for sim presentation. You ruin the sim with the arcade replays.

The gaps between commentary are head-scratchingly huge, but that's been the case for awhile now. I would have traded the pre-game introductions for all new-seamless commentary. It's really the same old boring, non-dynamic, hardly aware commentary system of the past decade. I'm pretty confident now that, like physics, it won't ever change this gen for EA.

The dreads are weak and the crowd didn't sound anymore aware of what is going on than they have in past games. I guess I can wait until the demo to fully test out the crowd awareness, but it wasn't an improvement from what I saw. Really, it seems like the same game from last year, gameplay/presentation wise with a few improvements that are noticeable while in game. No stat overlays. No stat comparisons. Not commentary on the stats. No matchup analysis, or rivalry analysis, or anything like that. It still doesn't play like a broadcast game (and we all know its possible for video games to play like one). I just wish they would go to youtube, and copy everything they see from a ESPN game, from the replays to the stats to the player introductions (introducing the lineups by showing player faces, hometown, class, and size) on that teams first offensive/defensive drive. Running still looks robotic as does the player interactions and celebrations. Oh well.

Looking forward to offline dynasty announcements. I spend 95% of my time there. I'll still buy the game because I love college football and need my fix but I don't really feel all that excited about the purchase. I guess I have just accepted that this is about what I should expect nowadays on this gen when it comes to football games.

Yes, I was mostly referring to presentation, but the gameplay didn't seem that different from 11, either. Sure there are some improvements, but nothing that made me jump up and say 'wow'.
