I am going to ask the TW12 Devs to restore TrueAim to what it was in TW11 for TW12 with a patch. ...
Divot, .... Thanks for taking the time to fire up TW True Aim to see how the aiming is so different. The essence of True Aim in 11 was the aiming from the tee and having to make all adjustments (ex fade, draw, loft, etc) from the tee just like in real golf. I'm not trying to be inflammatory when I make statements like EA "just decimated" True Aim from TW11 but rather I really think they did with the zoomed aiming and zoomed shot adjustments that can be fine tuned while super-zoomed.

I thought True Aim in 11 was a real nice step forward in terms of being more realistic, but it wasn't perfect. You couldn't play it online. But, it was available in Live Tournaments with no putt meter. Like you mentioned, one could still aim, zoom out, zoom back in, adjust aim, select different club, zoom out again etc. The zooming wasn't nearly as accurate as the new super zoom cameras. Plus, putting draw, fade or loft on the shots was all done on the tee and had no effect when you zoomed out.

The game had improved so much with TW11 True Aim that I was hoping for improvements in 12. I think one improvement could have been to address what you mentioned. Instead of the zoom out camera being dependent on what club you choose or where you are aimed, it would be better if the zoom just let's you zoom to the same overhead view of a hole with all the gps info, no matter where you were aimed on the tee or what club you had selected. The D-pad functioned well in 11 to let you move the camera all around the hole once you had hit B to zoom out. This type of static, overhead view of a hole with all the gps info would have been realistic in that it's essentially what a gps device gives you in real golf.

The zoomed aiming in TW12 is the worst feature imho. Like you, I'd like to be able to completely get rid of the caddy recommendations. But, the zoomed aiming and zoomed adjustment of the shots (draw, fade, loft) was really disappointing, as it takes so much realism out of the game. It's really more of an arcade type feature. In real golf, one cannot zoom out to aim and to adjust shots in real time with their aiming area changing as they adjust. It just seems like a step backward, even though there are some steps forward (online play of this level, no putt meter, vertical random landing).

As you know, I'm still getting the game, and still look forward to playing it. But, the taking out of aiming truly is very disappointing.

Divot, have they treated the severe hooking problem that we wrist breakers were experiencing in the demo with Move? It was such an issue with me that it's a make or break decision for a PS3 version purchase. I could have the XBox 360 version as early as Monday, based on my Fedex tracking information, but if the Move controls have been straightened out, I'll be on it in a pair of seconds!

I have to disagree with you here man. Based on just the demo of course it looks like E.A. has weeded out the "Truearcade" players from TW11 eliminating all the arcady assists that they need.

TrueSim or TW12 is still arcady in that tournament mode still gives you the ability to zoom out. This should not be available in a Sim atmosphere. We should only be able to rely on the hole layout (in the caddie book) from the tee.

All these preshot adjustments and alginments from a zoomed out perspective will only be missed by arcade players. What man walks 280 -340yrds from the tee box(irl) to survey where he wants to hit his ball????

The hole flyby and hole layout ( granted this layout would need more info) is all that should be available at the tee and in the fairways in the hardest mode. Arcade players wont like this, but as Jack Nicholson says in a Few good Men " You can't handle a Truesim"

Tw12 is closer to a SIM game in tournament mode then Tw11 will ever be.

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12: The Masters Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here

Has anyone else noticed that your golfer is decidedly further away from the swing camera this year? The Tiger '11 swing camera that I used last year was usually head to shoulder height, and about 4 feet behind the golfer. In the demo the same camera sets to shoulder to chest height, and about 6 feet behind the golfer.

The net effect of this is it makes the game feel less intimate. I'm not as connected to my golfer. It also results in some really bad angles for viewing putts when True Aim is in effect. You're further away from the golfer, and then dropped to the waist high camera at impact. You don't get to see the roll of the ball as the golfer would see it. I feel like I've been cheated out of a view I should have had. Yes, I realize I can go back and watch a replay, but it would be so much better if I could see what my golfer *should* be seeing "live".

Still working on building up my character, but in some early testing at the Practice Facility, it looks like they really spent some time on the Move functionality. The key hint I got from Handsward in the EA Tiger forums was to press on the T button when you have the Move pointed at a spot on the ground that is your "imaginary ball" and that will determine how well the Move impacts the ball. I have been playing with the DS3 in Amateur mode building my character because the challenges and events in the Career Mode are tough as heck this year. I got tired of getting beat on TOUR Pro and Tournament, so I backed it down to Amateur so I could go on and get my character up to speed. Will post more on the Move probably tomorrow AM when I start playing TW12 with it exclusively.
