Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember one of the devs saying that, based on their tracking information, online franchise is either THE least or one of the least-used features in M10/M11; thus potentially failing the "based on usage" qualifier.

Not to say that I don't want a more expansive online franchise mode; I do. That said, I think that the ideas that EA has lied or even mislead its userbase are shortsighted.

I believe you are correct, but given how bare the mode was, I think this is a cop out. One or two of the the features deemed most important like trade logic or salary contracts could have been added to see if it would increase usage instead of ignoring it completely for 2 years.

Superstar mode in Madden also doesn't get used very much. However My Player mode in NBA2k11 is praised all the time. That suggests that maybe if madden had a better superstar mode then it currently does, people would use it more. Just my opinion.

Oh no, I was just throwing it out there. I don't think it's an automatic win as history has shown, but like you said, I see it as a positive. Now that Mike Heimerdinger has some time on his hands, maybe he can come back in like he did last year with the run blocking and sure up the pass protections, and defensive line stunts.

You have a valid argument, IMO. It's a chicken-and-egg thing; would people use online franchise mode more if these features were there in the first place? Likely. Putting them in post-release without any sort of advertising buildup might not be a success, however, as communicating the addition to fans who don't frequent communities like OS might be a significant logistical problem.

Could also be seen (particularly with regard to Superstar mode, and this is pure speculation) as a call to scrap what's there and go back to the drawing board altogether.

I know a lot of leagues that are out there. They don't use the online franchise because it's missing all of the needed features. Now that league manager and xfn sites are out there the mode is awesome. Madden 11 is a good game. With some dedication to more football fundamentals and some great features like online franchise spectator mode, it Could be great.

I don't think the idea is short-sided. What's the point in playing a franchise mode without salary caps and contracts ? The mode was too bare; that's why the usage was so low.

I like OF as much as anyone, but still, the majority of players play OFFline franchise the most, including me. I say, scrap MUT to make disk space for huge improvements to offline franchise, NOT online!

Good luck with that happening.

Why would EA remove a feature, which by the way is more time consuming than adding a new feature, that is profitable for them?
