There's definitely an issue with the CPU not blocking when you start draining his head meter. Lashley will just take jab after jab until you knock him down and can attack to finish him off. I don't know if that's something that will be addressed or if it has already but no doubt you can easily knock a guy out by spamming the jabs.

How that will translate online I don't know. I won't just stand there and take it. i'll try to defend.

I only got to play it for about 5 minutes before work, bu I was very unimpressed. Actually I was a bit disappointed. The strikes seem very sluggish. I don't mean response time, but the animations take forever to complete. Also, there was some stuttering during takedowns and on the ground. I hope to spend more time with it this evening. I hope I begin liking it because I like the roster of fighters.

By the way, did anybody unlock Couture yet? If so, how does he look in the game? I have to find 4 more people to invite before I have him unlocked.

Well you convinced me that it would help the GnP and it did. We werent thinking about what it did to reversals at the time tho. Thats when it became an issue. I agree I cant believe they never even acknowledged it.

Now I have played about 50 or so fights in EA MMA and I am very comfortable with the controls now. I don't struggle doing UFC controls any longer. With that said, maybe I suck at the game but I find the CPU AI tough on legend and hard.

Well depends in what area. The ground game is way to easy IMO. I was getting submitted a lot, but thats from not quite understanding the mini games more than anything else. Maybe a few times were they trying to wear me to go for the sub, but overall just pressing B to block sub and transition attempts is just to effective.

Now I also stated I buy UFC 09, UFC 10, and now EA MMA all for online only. The single player means NOTHING to me. I could careless if there was no single player. I want a balanced online experience. I did not touch 09 single player, did not touch 10 single player, and will barely touch EA MMA single player.

99.9% of all my time spent on my 360, PS3, or PC is spent playing online.

All I care about is a chess match user vs user

Very good point. I agree as well. I just have nothing else to comment on except for the AI. Thats why I am dying for a user vs user chess match. I do have a really good feeling the game will deliver with that.

I hope you dont think I am trying to bash the game. I see a lot of potential and I like it, I just see some things that concern me. I hope to find out tonight if those concerns apply to user vs user as well.

Well we both agree it did help the GnP. It helped with the punch......pause....punch....pause. But even the auto transition block is not the issue. I like the auto-transition block to a degree. It is the reversal window is WAYY to large and the lack of ratings mattering for ground advances/defends that is the big issues.

The 3 transition rule I never liked. I always though it should be ratings based. But it was also something highly discussed so everyone pretty much figured it would HAVE to be looked into no differently than the auto takedowns.

Well I think thats the point. If you do something on the sticks they want YOU to know you either achieved or failed. That it was no random dice roll. So this is where User vs User games are going to be so huge. Again not concerned about the AI, but I still find them tough.

Yea I think the game is built for online. Reason why I am sooooo happy. I am truly in heaven with this MMA game. I am a huge MMA fan and UFC 09 fixed that craving, UFC 10 ruined it, and EA MMA is doing it better than both. So naturally if it is better than 09, then I will enjoy it extremely

I also don't care who bashes the game. It is their opinion and it has ZERO effect on me. I just honestly don't see what some of you guys are seeing. So while I don't know why I am not seeing it, I am glad I am not either. I don't want to see all the issues, no different then why I don't go to the NCAA forum. I want to enjoy the game without constantly thinking about all the issues people on the forums bring up. If I enjoy the game, then that is all that matters. I don't care if others don't and don't want to read their issues. If that makes sense.

There is a bug I noticed with the parry system.

If you are in full guard postered UP and they parry a punch. The game stops and kind of pauses for the animation to finish. A REALLY long animation.

Another issue is the ground and pound. The KO blows on ground and pound just look nasty. They are clunky and jerky. I hope this has to do with the early build of the demo and they cleaned it up in retail version.
Ok then thats why I am having the trouble I am. The cpu just plain isnt doing it. Then again I dont start really throwing shots until I get full mount so I dont know if they can parry while mounted. I agree about the KO blows.

For example: If the fight is standing. I am going to throw a few jabs but always be ready to hit B if they go for the take down. Once you start trying to throw 3 to 4 punch combos is when you will see them go for the take down when you open your hands to much. So you want to pace yourself and pop out the jab, hit a straight or to, defend the take down and you will see the CPU start opening with its hands more. Then you can land that big hook or spinning back fist. Remember these are a full 5 min rounds so you want to play more like the real fights go. You might see guys circling each other for 2:00min in a real fight just feeling each other out, them bam they hook and someone gets taken down. Very similar to EA MMA. Keeping a realistic pace is what I focus on and it has made almost all my games against the CPU feel real.

On the ground is same thing. You want to land a punch or two to distract them and look for the minor pass. Parry a few of their shots to drain their stamina and just really lay off mashing. You want to be cool and calm on the ground.

I also play the game in a realistic MMA fighting manner and I get realistic results. That is why I am confused by some of the comments. I clearly see the game is far from perfect. But like you said, it is head and shoulders over the UFC games.
I am trying my hardest to fight a legit fight. I am just moving along the ground to easy and the cpu isnt parrying my shots. I did triple check I was on legend. Hearing how much parrying can have an effect I really need to figure it out tonight.

Same thing for full mount. You get full mount and start throwing hooks they will just sit there and take the 5-6 shots until they are out. The just block, dont parry, dont try to transition, just block. For me at least.

You unlock him for the full game, not the demo.

No it makes sense. I only said something because it was starting to feel like I was only being negative when I actually think highly of the game. And I do feel like we are seeing two different things but for me, its actually great to hear you are seeing something different. I know you dont have blinders on so when you say the cpu will parry you, thats great news because they havent done it to me. I just cant wait to give it another run when I get off work. I was up till 2 am with the damn game last night .

I am so tempted to go get a capture card for the first time just so I can show me playing the game lol.

I don't know SB, they parry a TON of my shots. But I agree about full mount. Once you get full mount they just pretty much turtle up and won't parry or try and move.

I am like a little kid with the demo. I can't get enough of it and grin ear to ear while playing it LOL
