yea i was not understanding why sometimes my player would be move slow and jogging until rea explained about the not being able to have a quick first step in if the ball is in the wrong hand and i totally see what he means now. For example when i would try and go around the pick i wasnt paying attention to what hand the ball was in. i was just focused on trying to get around the pick and see what the d was doing but my player would be in the jogging like dribble but after rea told me that i started playing attention to what hand the ball was in and a lot of time when i would be in the jogging dribble the ball was in the wrong hand.

Now i dont have that problem because i always switch it to the right hand.

To add to that i love that you have to switch the ball hand yourself instead of an animation switching ball hands because you simply change directions

I still would love even a subtle turbo button. Thats a major mistake i think they made by not putting that in.

I agree about the turbo button...either that or they need to tone down the "recovery" of the AI...there are times where I feel like I do a nice crossover and get an opening to the basket only to get cut off by the defender...it happens on pump fakes too...I'll start getting around the defender and suddenly that same guy who went for the fake is back in front of me...

RTP needs some fine-tuning in that when I get that small "seam" to the basket, instead of being "stopped" by the defender I should be able to "push" the defender off to the side a bit more instead of being stopped in my tracks...

I seen a couple post where people say they have been going 10/10, 9/10 and so on. If thats true then you are very talented at this and i dont see why you would not like that. it means you are doing something right. I just dont understand. If a player shoots 40% from the field irl do you want the game to make 40% of his shoots go in the make the rest go out, our have that reflected in how big the sweet spot is at different spots on the court which is what dna is for.

I hardly make shots that im being contested on from mid range on out. The cpu on the other hand is just like live 10. when they are down it seems like every player shoots like kobe

And i like that about having to have the ball in the correct hand. Everytime i have to ball in the wrong hand guess what happens. The cpu knocks it out. it punishes me for making that mistake.
I see your argument regarding the high user shooting percentage. I think you're saying it wouldn't be as cool if a given player was, say, practicing open mid range jumpers and could only make four out of ten because he's only a 40% shooter. I'd agree with that if players were automatically locked into a number in that fashion.

I think the argument from a few users is that things seem to be on the other extreme in this regard. The idea being thrown out there is that a user who can master the "perfect shot release" will have a juiced shooting percentage on most occasions. While that may reward user excellence, it does not reflect the game of basketball very well. If nothing else, the ability to shoot a perfect shot is never as simple as portrayed by a simple stick movement on a video game system.

As such, it might be tough to have a stick motion be the primary factor of whether a shot goes in or not. Video games must implement their own sense of balance in this regard (via shooting ratings) to keep things in a semi-realistic perspective. With Elite not yet released, it's tough to say how well they struck that balance between user success and player ability. I'm pretty certain a perfect user shot release will not result in a make everytime, yes?

And regarding the user having to ensure the ball is always in the correct hand and manually moving it frequently to avoid being pick-pocketed, again I see the draw for a lot of people; the "full control" experience. However, I'm not sure all gamers really truly strive for control of everything, at least not at this point.

For instance, I'm fairly confident that I'd never want to have control of each individual dribble a player takes. I don't want to have to rhythmically press down on the right stick, hypothetically, each time I want to bounce the basketball. It'd be authentic. I'd be in control. But for me, it'd be more of a chore than anything else. Now surely, manually pounding the ball is on a different plane from routine switching of dribbling hands, but I'm saying we all have our control limits and a lot of control limits might be reached with constantly having to double check and reconfirm that our ballhandler has the ball in the correct hand in accordance to his immediate defender.

You know what should give me the best possible chance of hitting a shot? Playing better basketball than my opponent.

I prefer the system where you need to play good basketball to get your players open shots in their spots to give them the best chance of making it, then having to time your release perfectly to give the ball the best chance of going in, then the end result being based on that players abilities. You know why? Because that's basketball.

Why don't I like that I can easily shoot 80%+ over any defense? Because it eliminates the need to play a style with any semblance of a real offense. Playing online will be an absolute mess, nobody is going to be playing real basketball, just wiggling back and forth with great shooters trying to get a good look.

And what's their solution to stopping this? Giving defensive players the ability to instajump faster and higher than their real life counterparts. Fantastic.

The end result is a game that will be dominated by ridiculously high % jump shooting and teams getting 10+ perimeter blocks a game. Yeah, that really sounds like NBA basketball to me.

This game is insulting to die hard NBA fans. We aren't their target demographic so EA needs to stop pretending we are.

I get where you are coming from. But is it possible to master the shot release to where all of your shots are going in. Rea has said that the sweet spot so to speak can get so small that it is impossible to make a shot. I hope he is correct because i can see it happening.

I do think this is another thing elite has moved in the right direction with and the concept behind it is good. There is not way truly replicate the bending of the wrist, the follow through, the arc, etc. All these things have a factor on weather or not the shot is going to be short, long, left, or right. But the concept elite has with shooting is the best i have seen in a basketball game to date with this with the power being how long you hold the stick and the accuracy being where you move the stick

I dont get how people are saying it is easy to to get shots off.

Are you guys playing on pro?

Im alternating between All-Star and Super-Star and getting space for a clean look, is probably the hardest thing to do.

I absolutely have to use my teammates, call a set, run a pick and roll, use the jab step, ball fake, or call for a offball screen, using a backstep, or a fallaway move to get the best chance at a clean look.

If you dont create space for a shot, it will absolutely get blocked.

I'd like to see fewer blocks on J's, true..and more shot contest animations.

I agree with that point.

I dont make contested, off the dribble, J's very frequently at all; nor should I.

Hey rEAanimator.

Is there a way to contest a shot without jumping for a block?

Last year, we could trigger a hand in the face animation, but either that's been taken out of the game, or I do not know how to do it.

I absolutely agree that i want to have to play good basketball to make a shot and thats what i have to do. I have been playing on superstar and all star and by no means is it easy to get open, or just throw up a shot and make it.

I really would like to know if people who are seeing that its that easy to make a shot are playing on rookie or pro because superstar and all star shooting is not that easy.
