Last Year they had every single player in the game rated 0 for fast break anticipation...i still believe that code was used to allow the DNA to have precedence over the fast break logic of the players in order to keep it from becoming a unrealistic dunk fest on the break.

Sounds like a good idea but it destroyed the way players behaved on the break
That makes sense. Too bad bc IMO live was the best at simulating fast breaks once upon a time. I'm talking 3-on-1 and 2-on-1, stuff like that. Not just "ooh I stripped the ball from the PG at the top of the key and now I'm running solo the other way with no one in front of me for an easy dunk."

OK, the discussion, the questions...the back and forth ends now. This is for IMPRESSIONS ONLY. Bans /warnings will ensue. I'm not going to go back through the previous 30 pages from today (because many will have missed the warning), but from this point forward (again) only post impressions please.

I've played four games.

The first I was just screwing around trying to learn controls. Noticed if you get the shot timing down, you will never miss.

The second I went 9/10 with Kobe (all off balance shots), getting blocked once.
The third I 10/10 with Kobe, again all off balance.
The fourth I went 11/12 with Rondo shooting, got blocked once.

Shooting 90% or higher every game? Entirely possible, and completely ridiculous.

Hard to believe u, dude, hard to believe u...

As for me, I think I am truly digging this game now. It's like the ugly girl who no one wants to mess with but once u get past her looks then u get to know her and u see how much she truly shines when u spend time with her and in many cases, better than the uber pretty chick that gets all of the attention (kinda get my comparison, eh? heh).
I honestly have started thinking that I won't be getting 2K11 on day one. Maybe down the line (I will save my dough for The Fight for the Move that comes out the next week, instead) I'll get it, just not on day one...maybe. I want to dig into the retail version of Elite 11.

Will do...just not tonight.

Great summary.

I worked on alley oops this year. I think the xploit thing may be a valid concern (can be tuned though) but I'm curious why you think they look bad? I thought they looked quite good to be honest. You don't have the slowdown thing from ;last year and the ball contact is bang on.

Just curious.

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)

I played some more some of this demo tonight don't ask me why.....

But i think EA would have done much better by simply allowing the game to play more uptempo

Call me crazy but if your not going to cater to SIM style players why not let the game flow.

If the fastbreak logic wasn't so messed up this would probably be a solid game for those just looking to get up and the down floor Phoenix or Golden St style.

Less bad animation you have to witness if your running and gunning and less flaws you'd see in the AI during halfcourt sets. Maybe if possible they could open up the transistion game with a patch.

I mean if your asking us to waite 2-3 years before everything comes together atleast make the gameplay fun.......let us dictate the tempo pick up the pace and just work in transistion. I could probably enjoy it playing that style because it suits my Mavs.

Make the CPU aggressive in transition like they were in Live 07.....the best part of that game was it's ability to get out and run. I'd rather see high flying dunks than a bunch whack looking layups or erractic jumpers in the paint with guys facing away from their own basket.

How about it EA can this be done or what?

Compliment the controls with a uptempo game because i can't see this game functioning properly in the half court. Most of these guys are going to hate playing offline because of the AI but hey one way to make AI fun for offline play is get them out running the floor. Speed up the tempo take it back 3-4 years when the game excelled in the open floor.

Kinda like Phoenix and Golden St you aren't going to win the crown at the end of day but hey your fans will love the style of play despite your short comings in the other parts of the game.

Hell over half the league is trying to play uptempo now and lots of squads use a 3 guard lineup at different stages of a game. Give that USER who just can't stomach the bad animations or half court play by the CPU a reason to keep playing the game.

A game dominated by Fastbreak basketball might not be what your was coming in but for this year I think it would help more than hurt the community because they'll atleast have something beyond controls that makes them find the game entertaining.....it's a crazy idea i know but you might be shocked by how many guys stick around and use that approach even if its just for pick up and play games.

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)

YO ReAn or anyother dev, It is extremly easy to hit shots 3's none the less at will just pumpfaking then shoot in the defenders face. The timing isnt that hard and its on superstar. Y is it so easy?

And kobe is taking off like James white in front of defenders???... outside the paint when good D was being played..... other than these and defenders not blocking oop passes the game is koo.......

Still shooting is waaaaaaaaaayyyyy too easy.
