NBA Elite; played the demo for 20 minutes and thought the controls were better, but the presentation was not. Stick control isn't as complicated as the trigger dribbling for 2K. I may buy this game.. but I doubt it.

NHL 09-11 are way better than any of this crap.
I get the impression you're not a basketball fan.. ?

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)

I just cannot fathom how anyone can say this game is fun or somewhat playable. I guess just because the controls is all that matter. What I do not understand is WHAT in the controls makes this game so much fun to be able to withstand the horrible A.I.?

I feel like the controls (default) on this game is catered towards NHL controls. These are not basketball playing controls. The game has no life, it feels like I am playing a NBA version of NCAA basketball. All the player models feel card boardish (if that's a word) and has no weigh to them. When you jump it feels floaty. I may be blind but I do not see any differences in anyones shot.

Jermaine oneal shoots just like ron artest. They all dribble the same. No signature dribbles. Wait I take it back ; Kobe , ray allen and Pierce have their shots. I played the heck out of the demo and I just don't feel like hooping or watching an NBA game after playing NBA Elite 11. No excitement.

But to each his own. I mean some people think whoopi goldberg is way hotter than gabriel union but who are we to tell them no?

I have a feeling you tried this out because you heard Littman was on this since you seem like a Hockey fan. IMO I don't think basketball is your genre of sports.

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)

I'm on a fast break with Ray Allen, no one in front of me and Kobe trailing me by 5-8 feet.

Easy dunk (or layup) right?

Wrong.

At the top of the key, with no one in front of him, and Kobe closing in, Allen suddenly goes into the "I'm backing you down in the post animation."

Of course, Kobe catches up to him and gets in between him and the basket.

Along with the rest of the Lakers.

Terrible.

But the impression left on me from this demo is that the developers were GUIDED too strongly by the main guy producing the game and that's Litman(he knows his hockey) but the flow of the game just does not look right. meaning why can't someone just look at the game and say "that doesn't move like NBA ball at all" and then tell them what to fix?

Instead it's "the controls aren't right" "change the controls"? We've been changing controls for ages lets changes the animations the way things look after a player bumps into something etc...lets add depth of vision NOT control
ahem, that would be me. Had numerous conversations with multiple developers about game speed.

Same here. The more I play the demo and learn the new control layout, the more I like this game. Also as Playmakers pointed out, "Superstar" difficulty setting is definitely the way to go.

Also in the retail/final version....this game will be a 'tweakers' dream. Just imagine what can be done with global/user/cpu slider edits. Playmakers, Tomba....do you hear me?!?!

While this game is far from perfect but I love the direction that EA has taken with this game. It feels fresh and new (something that hasn't been said about an NBA video game in a few years now).

I had planned on purchasing both NBA games this year but for the moment I think I'm just going to go with Elite because the new control mechanism will keep my interest far longer than the typical button-style controls.

Throw in NBA JAM and it's a wrap.

Actually I love the new FT shooting system. On 'Superstar' difficulty, it's much more challenging.

I made mention of this a few pages back as well. Glad that I'm not the only one experiencing this because I was beginning to think that it was just me messing up the controls somehow.

This is my main issue with the Elite 11 demo thus far.

rEAnimator......PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me that this has either been corrected in the final version or something that you guys are planning on patching?
