Sounds great but all I need is Flex 1 lane jumper, the greatest play in the game.

Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Expanded Playcall System

Flipped Plays.

I saw some questions about flipped plays so I will add a bit to that. In an effort to assist the plays in running quicker they introduced flipped plays for the user.

How it will work in 2k11 is dependent on the type of play. On plays where the play starts on the left or right side of the floor. Those play can be flipped by the user by simply changing the side of the floor you are on when you call the play.

For plays that begin in the middle of the floor where there is no clear indicator of which side the play begins on. The cpu will run it to the side where the most players are already in position.

It works out really well from my time with the game.

For the best play execution you want to call your plays before reaching half court if you can. However the plays are running so much smoother than 2k10 that on a few occasions you will see the cpu run one play and then run another right behind it if it wasn't successful.

CPU seem to be keenly aware of the shot clock and how long it takes certain plays to run. I have seldom seen in limited play time it choose an extended play when there was not enough time to complete it.

Most will be relieved to know that with the exception of the out of bounds plays ever single play from 2k10 and previous has been removed.

Well, those bigs you speak of are Manute Bol, Alton Lister, and Tom Tolbert so they were probably better off standing around and watching...LOL.

True, he hasn't had much luck going deep into the playoffs (when he does make it), but I'd say that has as much to do with the talent on the floor as it does his coaching.

And I disagree re: reliance on individual brilliance. If anything, he's gotten more out of his players than any coach in NBA history. All his successful teams played well off each other and needed them to overachieve. He's never had a team that had a Michael Jordan or a Kobe Bryant. And those teams absolutely relied on individual brilliance...

Most NBA teams that win championships had one or two superstars. The only team I can think of that's recently won a title without such a player are the Detroit Pistons.

Like if Odom wasnt on the lakers anymore, would he occasionally run plays from his position on a new team assuming he would have that role on a new team IRL?

Also, how about Manu?

If he left the Spurs in my Association; Would Manu still have Manu specific plays on a different team? Will the Spurs still run Manu specific plays for a new player on the team or will it just vanish?
Great question Juke. I just so happened to ask about that. 2k devs were very open about the playcall system.

How they decided to do it was to put code into the game that would be aware of a players general abilities. IRL when a player is traded most instances he will get plays out of the new system that fit his abilities. With the exception situations like Boston where they kept some of Nate's boston plays to help him get comfortable.

So in theory ( I didn't play with any trades) if you trade a player and he meets the criteria to run a certain "type" of play those are the ones the cpu will call for him.

Of course if it's your team and not cpu controlled your free to assign any plays you want to any player or bench position so that shouldn't be an issue.

HAHA great question. When capturing I keep the broadcasters off so I can have the court ambiance in the video with my background music. So I don't know. Hopefully not.
