Re: NHL 11 Demo Review Roundtable

I am just curious if Juha Leskinen is a relative Don't see many Leskinens in the states.

As for the Demo... this is my first taste of EA hockey since NHL 09 so I am still trying to get reacquainted with it... If it has online Co-op I can see myself buying it though.

Re: NHL 11 Demo Review Roundtable

The people that create EA Sports' NHL franchise all deserve raises. NHL is always the best sports game out every year. Although I'm not the biggest hockey fan, I've bought this game the past 5 years and have played them non-stop since. Can't wait for this one!

Well, us Leskinens have spread across the globe, like a disease

Agreed. I'm so used to those just popping up when I need them, the fade in is a nuisance. Hope a dev reads this and changes it back, or speeds up that fade. There's no time for it when you're in the heat of the moment...I usually call line changes as I skate the puck down the ice, so if I take my eye off the puck for that half second, I'm dead!

Wow. Jayson Young's leadoff comment makes me shout... Really??? I guess you've never played a 2K hockey game before! Especially 2K10.

Quite the contrary.. in the demo, I found that my forwards are standing at my blueline when they should be getting open in the neutral zone, even with it set to Attack : Full Out. I popped in my copy of 2K10 after playing the NHL demo, and was shocked at how good the positioning A.I. is in 2K, compared to what is supposed to be 'improved' A.I. in NHL11

I can't argue anything anymore, i know.., because there is no 2K game this year for PS3/360, and I will be playing NHL11 to death this season... but really, folks, 2K hockey never got it's due, partly because of the EA 'goggles' people wear.
2k hockey was really good, but NHL is far more polished.....it was definitely a closer race than MLB2k and The Show, that is for sure!

That's how much i believe in this game this year. I normally would have just traded in NHL10 for '11; NBA LIVE10 for '11 or 2K11 which ever played better (gameplay). Now, madden11 has fallen out of grace with me, it had to go ( no fixes or changes, and it's been a week! ). So my front runner of the year is going to be NHL11. I have never played a demo soo much; it's ridiculous. Everything about '11 is a big upgrade from '10 (vague). This is the only sports game that plays quick online, and you don't feel really cheated if someone happens to quit on you in 15-20mins game. (not a big waste of your time) As for the rest of them, what a let down. cheers gamers. GO HABS !
Madden 11 is probably the closest EA has gotten to NFL2k, so I have to disagree with your assesment...but NHL11 will definitely be a notch higher than Maden

I think online play is the reason EA's NHL series is winning over people who never cared about hockey before.

Most of the hardcore NHL fans seem to spend most of their time in the offline modes, which in EA NHL, have only been 'OK' the last couple of years; as of last year, I still thought NHL 2K still had the better franchise mode.

But the appeal of being able to pickup-and-play a game of 6 vs. 6 online hockey is what seems to be bringing over new people to EA's game.
