I think it's a gimmick, at least from the demo.

It wasn't really intended to bring realism like some are bringing up, EA even admitted the real reason was to speed games up so they don't take as long.

Ask Madden is superior in my opinion because you still get a small range of plays to choose from and they are generally shown according to the situation. If you wanted to gameplan and rank certain plays for different situations then you could set it up so those plays show up in the ask madden screen more often.

I don't mind gameflow as much on offense, but hate it on defense.

Gameflow is for noobs/casual players its a IMPORVED Ask Madden nothing more than that its a gimmick
No real BALLER is going to let the CPU call their plays
For the people who said that they have setup their gameplan and Gameflow works for them well instead of that EA should just have brought back Create a Playbook its the same thing but WAY better
Dont tell me Gameflow saves time maybe for noobs/casual players but not for Ballers we will still pick are plays and would rather have Create a Playbook
Man i mean it like EA said " well we got this Gameflow thing down so lets just update the roster, improve one thing from OS forums wishlist (Running Game), and ADVERTISE the hell outta it now"

I like it.

Playing with the headset does give it more of a realistic feel, and with the way plays are called I spread the ball around more to different recievers than I normally would calling my own plays.

I don't really get how it makes games faster though.

I don't particularly care for it. It dumbs the game down IMO, and while yes, it speeds things up a bit, I do not ever recall seeing anyone complain the games were too long... so what is the big deal about that?

I gave up on it after a game where I was getting stuffed on the run all game long yet the "coach" would keep calling run plays on 2nd and long, and 3rd and long instead of adjusting like would happen in real life. I ended up audibling more plays then running what was called.

Depending on what playbook you were using and if you made a Gameplan or not. That's why that happened.

It's a gimmick, plain and simple. It *should* be the way playcalling works in Superstar mode, but not in the regular game. It's just a hyped up Ask Madden and it's meant for n00bs or people in a hurry (because it manages to trim a whole 10 minutes off a game...ooh) Sure, it makes the CPU play more like the real teams... something they should have been doing for years.

Even gameplanning is kinda pointless in this game. If you know your football, you've got your gameplan in your head. You know what you're going to do in most scenarios. You can spend a couple hours setting everything up before the game... or you can take an extra few seconds at the playcalling screen. Now if we had all the options from Head Coach like playbook knowledge and actual weekly practices...focusing on what we plan to do for the next week... actually preparing for the next team... stuff like that... it'd be different. But, we don't.

...and the fact that they added the whole thing due to statistics showing that most players are only using 10-15 plays per game just shows how non-sim the general public are.

Definitely a gimmick! In Madden, Im the Off. and Def. Coordinator!
Not the stinkin CPU! I want to have the control over specifically what plays I pick. With the new strategy pad I find it much harder to get multiple hot routes or def. assignments in before the play clock runs out. That alone is a huge reason why I want to pick my own plays. Not to mention it limits your options to adjust to your opponent on the fly. Im not going to play the same against every opponent. I adjust accordingly and Gameflow limits that.
