Yes,normally.

Fedor's only loss was by doctor stoppage.
Brock's only loss was by leg lock.
Rashad's only loss was by KO in the 2nd round.
GSP's first loss was by armbar and his other loss was started on a first round punch but one that many feel was an illegal blow.
BJ Penn's 2 lightweight losses were by decision.
It took 37 fights before Nog was finished by TKO/KO,even then that was in the 2nd round.
Anderson Silva hasn't been finished by TKO/KO at all in 30 fights.
Frankie Edgar's one loss was by decision.
Tyson Griffin's 2 losses were both by decision.
Jon Jones only loss is by DQ partly due to an incompetent ref.
Coleman's first loss was by armbar.
Couture's first 3 losses were by sub.
Hendo hasn't been KO/TKO'd in the 13 years he's been fighting.
Bas Ruten never lost by KO/TKO in MMA,only once in kickboxing.
Mousasi hasn't been KO/TKO'd.
Pedro Rizzo's first loss was by decision.
Tim Sylvia isn't even really that good and even he didn't get KO'd until his 30th fight.
Tito's first 2 losses by sub,#3 by decision and wasn't KO'd until Chuck.
Even Chuck himself had his first loss by sub.
Rampage was 19-3 until he got TKO'd,his losses were a decision, sub and DQ.
Forrest's first loss was by decision.
It was 21 fights before Evan Tanner was KO/TKO'd.
Matt Hughes wasn't KO/TKO'd until his 25th fight losing twice by sub before that.
BJ Penn has only been KO/TKO'd by strikes by Matt Hughes.
Diego Sanchez has 2 losses by decision and one by TKO from a cut.
Mark Kerr's first loss by decision.
Bisping by decision. Only KO'd by Hendo and that was round 2.
Roy Nelson had 2 decision before he was KO/TKO'd in round 2.

Jeremy Horn has fought 108 fights and only lost by TKO/KO twice and it took 9 years and 5 months until the first one happend and that was to Chuck Liddell.

Dan Severn wasn't KO/TKO'd until his 91st fight/11 years and that was the only time in 116 fights over 16 years.

Royce Graice wasn't stopped by strikes until 13 years into his career. His other 2 losses were by throwing in the towel before the fight because he was injured in a previous tourny round and the other because he was tired after 90 minutes of fighting Saku for 6 15 minute rounds.

So yes normally it is unrealistic for quality fighters to lose their first fight by KO/TKO in the first round on a punch. I can find Machida,Thaigo Silva and Don Frye as quality fighters with round 1 KO/TKO losses for their first loss and Frye's was at UFC 10 where it was 1 15 minute round,it happend at 11:34.

LOL...I guess you and your bro gooh will research every statistic in an effort too validate your claim. After I finish laughing, could you show me the statistics of MMA fighters taking 4-6 power shots to the head without falling? I think the results of those findings should put things back into context...lol

As SEVERAL have said already....ROCKED moments and Knockdowns should happen MORE than the KOs that come from weak strikes.

Got it..?

The only thing I got, is milk...get it? Lol, I am sorry, I just could not resist. Anyway, I agree with rock moments and knock downs occurring after one punch, but please never tell a fighter that KOing someone with a perfect power shot is unrealistic. I know better than that. And FYI, never think that what you may perceive as being a WEAK punch, should only cause a little damage. You never know how your brain will respond after crashing into your skull. That so called weak punch might catch you at a WEAK moment.

??? I guess we are spinning our wheels now, and should leave this thread for others to express their opinions. I think I have made mine perfectly clear. We already have an arcade style fighting game called Fight Night, and I assume that EA's MMA game will be an extension of that. As a sim dude, I just prefer that games at least try to give the illusion of realism, especially with the fundamental elements of the sport.

According to Compustrike (not that I'd ever use these things to judge a fight but it's stats)...

In the recent Aldo/Faber fight Faber landed 24 powerstrikes to Aldo's 21. Faber only landed 39/148 total strikes while Aldo landed 126/191. That fight went to a 5 round decision and was dominated by Aldo.

The Sam Stout/Jeremy Stephens fight from Saturday it says Stephens landed 62 power strikes and Stout landed 45. While there were 3 knockdowns combined there was no KO/TKO and it went to decision. Stout landed a total of 92 strikes and Stephens landed 93.

Korean Zombie/Garcia was 70-70 in power strikes. A total of 102/266 landed by Garcia and 123/268 by Zombie.

From FightMetric I went for a randomly chosen fight,it turned out to be Fisher/Uno from UFC 99. It says Fisher landed 10/23 head power shots and Uno landed 11/23 power shots to the head.

Griffin/Bonnar 1 had 43/96 power head strikes for Griffin and 36/93 for Bonnar.

All decisions.

And I'd love to see the stats for the last Melendez/Thomson fight but I can't find them. That too a 5 round decision.

Any other stats you'd like me to look up?
