BUT...

i work in software development, and if we put this product out to our customers we would all have lots more time on our hands to play it (2-3 years in a row no less). the fact that simulating through a franchise just once is enough to highlight obvious issues (price fielder and jason werth on wavers for example) illustrates to me the approach this company takes to quality assurance.

again, don't get me wrong...i appreciate the effort of everyone contributing to the game and the board...BUT...its obvious the people running THE SHOW...don't feel like its a deal braker to tell joe shmo out 60 bucks...deal with it...we will get to it (maybe)...and thats bad business IMHO.
I'm not trying to single you out, but seeing posts like this make me laugh. First let me say, at least you're not a transplant from the 2k series. If you think this is bad, 2k8 AND 2k9 had so many bugs and glitches that went BLATANTLY ignored. As in 2k wouldn't even comment on them. As in 2k members would actually post on any subject EXCEPT bugs or glitches. Within 1 day, SCEA was already responding to the bugs and glitches of franchise mode.

Secondly, you name me a game without bugs or glitches, and I'll sell you some ocean front property in Idaho. EVERY game has bugs or glitches no matter how small or how big they may me. So if you think you're throwing away $60 on this game, just add up how much you've spent on any game in the past and realize how much you've really thrown away.

Last, but not least, the main glitches are focusing around player movement in franchise. Simple solution? Don't play franchise for a few weeks. Is it really going to kill you to play exhibition or season or rrts or online? I'm a franchise guy myself, but when I get tired of franchise I always go back to good old exhibition games. Use the time to experiment with different teams and different players and prepare yourself for franchise to be fixed.

Modern Warfare 2 is one of the biggest selling titles to date and it's already had at least 3 patches to fix it. Two coming within a month of each other. So relax, a fix is coming. As much as the franchise glitches suck, the game play itself is nothing short of amazing.

Re: MLB '10: The Show - Franchise Issues Update

Let me apologize up front if this has been addressed in the 60 some pages in this thread but I didn't see this as an identified issue in the first post by SCEA dev team.

Any game played @ Tampa Bay freezes after the 6th inning when hitting SELECT during the game. It happens every time you play. While browsing the bugs/glitches thread I saw multiple people posting this same issue. I would think this would certainly have to make the next patch right? Otherwise you could never play @ Tropicana field which is a major major problem.

Some one identified thie problem in the tropicana freeze workaround thread. It has to do with entering the bullpen from the quick menu. As long as you don't enter the bullpen from the quick menu it won't freeze. There are a few other workarounds like pressing start after exiting the bullpen and using a different stadium.

It's a pretty easy workaround just use the start menu to enter the bullpen.

Pretty much, yes.

They are on a break but will sort these issues when they get back.

Cool, thanks. A well deserved break, the game is fantastic. I am still enjoying messing about in franchise even with the existing issues, and the gameplay/presentation is such a big improvement.

In your line, do you work exclusively on PS3 hardware and use PS3 devkits? Do you have less than a one year development cycle to work on your software? While what you do "MIGHT" be similar to what it takes to write code for a videogame, it is not the same and you can not assume that it is. The shareholders don't give a damn about how the game is. They just want it to be released when Sony says they would release it. As a result, when they (devs) get closer to the go-gold date, if they find a bug they just have to code it for the next patch. All the testing in the world is meaningless if you aren't given enough time to correct the bugs. Coding for a videogame is NOTHING like coding for a word processor. Anything as interactive as game software is insanely more difficult.

I'm sure if the devs had an infinite cycle time they'd be able to squash every bug there is. But they need to get each iteration of the game out there in a short few months after the last game has gone out. They don't have the 5 year development time that other genres might have. (Hell, look how long it takes Operating Systems to come out, and those are STILL full of bugs even with massive QA processes).
