This way I can just start my franchise now...?

Also if I dont use this new Roster file today, and stick with the original Roster file (that also contains some of my user created players ) will the only impact be that All Star players like Jeter, Wright, Pujols, etc wont be worth much in trades because the CPU AI sees their low potential rating??........Are there other negative effects of using this roster?

And finally, Once these All Stars retire or start trickling out throughout the seasons on my Franchise, will the newer prospects be functioning fine in regards to their trade value or will this be an ongoing issue with the original roster files?

thanks again!
I ran a quick sim to see if the Roster update would help with trade logic..........It did not same bad trades being made. So with that in mind I would surmise that using your older roster file should work just fine. The new roster really had done nothing except fix some potential ratings and place some new players on their respective teams. Once the patch hits I have no idea how it will impact franchises already in the works, but let's say you can apply it to your franchise then the problems I listed above should be addressed; hopefully.

I don't know about the new prospects and the problems in future seasons of your franchise. The best thing to do would be to simulate like 5 seasons and take a look at the league. Right now the trade logic seems to be set up out of whack, and that's to say they value money and contract years remaing and potential higher than production. So they take A. Pujols who might be an A potential but is entering the final year of his contract and will be wanting a lot of money. So they ship him for some prospects who have a couple years remaining and require less salary but still have an A potential.

If in the future one of these prospects were to become an All-Star player and is asking for a lot of money heading into a contract year and there are still so many prospects with A potentials then I would fathom that the same problem would still apply.

Hope that answers your question, in a round about way lol.

They didn't fix this yet????

That's miserable. So every team has on average 4 elite pitchers in their minor league system.

You have to manually do it. It does not pop up and ask you automatically like last year.

Also for the player potential discussions and age etc... I think potential has a lot more to do with AI trade logic and roster management than it does with how the player performs in game. The performance in game is based on stats.

Jeter is an A, because you know he is a Yankee for life, and it prevents him from ending up on a waiver wire or with another team.

At work and can't check, but are player positions messed up? The most notable one was Jeter in CF. How will that affect games/franchises that we play? I dont want Jeter yanked in every game (I play as Rays, but still want realism)

Sounds like I'll be waiting for the "IF" patch. And if not then I might consider going back to 09

They still have time before April, I'll wait till then.

Hmm. You'd think the guys at SCEA would have the capability to try such an advanced testing system.

I wonder if turning "ignore budgets" on would have any effect on this?

Either way, I don't want to get involved with a franchise mode that has all these extra "A" potential players hovering in the minor leagues. It doesn't take a genius to imagine how unrecognizable your league will be in a few years.

As I said previously, it looks like single Season mode with user control on all 30 teams is the only way you are going to get a realistic simulation of an extended MLB experience in this game as it stands.

I'm wondering if it's even worth Knight and those guys bothering with all the minor leaguers this year. If these issues (the minor league player potential and trade logic) don't get corrected it's not going to matter if there are prospects or not. I'll just be playing some version of the 2010 season perpetually.

Yes, they're still messed up. Just edit the positions from the roster menu before going into a franchise and they should stick.

To be clear, we don't need a patch to address the potential issue.

They simply could have fixed the rosters for today's update by giving more of the current players an A potential, and leaving around 25 or so in the minors as the top prospects. That would solved a lot of the trade issues.

So maybe this will get fixed next week. I'm just a little disappointed because I LOVE this game so much, and I wanted to get started on my franchise this week.
