If it's the same as last year, training during the offseason causes you to progress. Training during the regular season would simply limit the amount of regression you have.

You must've overlooked my post, I also disregarded obvious generic players as well.

I'm sure SCEA has their own scale, but based on current and projected future overall ratings and roles, I consider the following scale for potential:

Position Players:
A - All-Star to Future HOF'er.
B - Great bench players to solid regulars, of course some B players can be All-Stars.
C - Average regulars/One-Tool Players and bench players.
D - Bench players barely able to make the major league roster/Most minor leaguers non-prospects
F - Minor leaguers non-prospects

Pitchers:
A - Aces to Cy Young Award Winners and Dominant relievers.
B - Solid middle of the rotation starters and great relievers.
C - Back of the rotation starters/Long relievers and average to decent middle relievers.
D - Fringe starting pitchers/average relievers minor league non-prospects.
F - Terrible relievers/minor leaguer non-prospects

I also assume that the the potential is a player's peak overall and there is wide range for each letter grade.

Potential has a lot of bearing on peak overall rating. Adrian hasn't peaked yet. Assuming a baseball player's prime is between age 30-32, he's not too far off.

Adrian's overall is an A and a D potential will drastically affect him in a couple of seasons in franchise mode. Obviously younger players who had just entered the league recently (players like Troy Tulowitzki, Neftali Feliz, and Buster Posey), it suits them more to have a potential that is way different than they're current overall.

That's just my take.

Yes, I understand that is their intention. My post was asking (begging is probably more accurate) if it can be available before then.

I understand if it actually takes a long time to do, but I can't see why it wouldn't take more than one developer's time for a couple of hours to update one field in a table (again, don't know for sure if that is the process).

I don't really mind if there was a big issue that we could work around for a week or edit ourselves, but this is something there is no work around or manual fix for and it makes Franchise unplayable, IMO, and I'd like to play it this weekend while I have some time.

Again, the team has been great to this point, so I don't want to sound like I am busting their chops, but it would be awesome if they could make it happen.

Will you have to start a new franchise for this patch to work or will it change potential in an existing franchise?

I assume since it is in a roster update, it is not a patch. So you will need to start over with that updated roster.
