Players peak at different times of their career depending on many factors. Why should he get an A potential just because he was decent the last couple years?

Same goes for David Wright and Jose Reyes. Who knows when these guys will peak and then fall off the face of the Earth. I just don't know if this potential thing is as big a deal as some people are making it out to be. I kind of like some variety thrown into my franchise which would be current guys falling off and new talent coming up. Just a thought.
Your logic could be used in both cases. He could end up being better or worse there is no way to perdict the future. All you can do is go by his proven track record, which is that he is a premiere catcher in the MLB today.

While they are asking for opinions....I'm sure ultimately...they(SCEA) will use their heads in changing these. They realize the original bug caused havac and mayhem...and will want this update to be as good and fair as possible.

I completely agree.

This in no way would've been a deal breaker for me...the game is just that good. It's in my system as we speak, and god willing, next year at this same time MLB '11 will be as well.

I just applaud the fact that the guys over there at Sony are fixing these things so quickly and once again, listening to the community...the people who ultimately are paying their paychecks.

With this discussion about the potential rating, for me its more a thing that I'd like to know more about how each letter grade works than going through the game to find players who should be a B rather than a C. At 33, I come from a generation that played games like Atari baseball which had 3 fielders only on the field and moved all at the same time like they were triplets joined at birth. Or nightmare games that followed like MLB baseball for NES, some of the Bases Loaded games, the Triple Play series with their homerun sound effects off the bat that sounded like a bad thunderstorm in Kansas in mid July. I spent 40-50 bucks on all that crap and I'm sure I could go on. The Show is finally my reward for paying all that money over the last 20+ years on lousy baseball games. So a few potential ratings being a little off is not keeping me away from this work of art.

Re: MLB '10: The Show - Player Potential Fix Coming in Next Roster Update

First of all, thanks to the folks at SCEA for recognizing this issue and putting a fix on right away. That being said, I can't help but wish that this particular issue would be fixed immediately.

For me, (and I'm sure many like me) this issue makes Franchise, and to a lesser extent, RTTS, unplayable. I don't want to start either of those modes knowing that players like David Wright, Hanley, etc will be worthless within 2-3 years. It screws up trade logic, and I can't help but think it has a lot to do with the waiver issues.

Now, maybe there is a lot that goes into this that it will take some time to fix, and if that is the case, I understand. However, as someone who works at a software company, I can't imagine that fixing this takes much more than adjusting some values in a table, something that should only take hours, not days.

For those of us who have waited for weeks in anticipation, for those who tell everyone we know that doesn't have a PS3 "the show alone is worth buying a system for", and for those of us who sing your praises...Is there any way this can be fixed before the weekend so we can get to cracking on our Franchises?

Again, I understand if there are technical limitations preventing this, but I fail to see how that could be the case.

thanks again for all you do

Re: MLB '10: The Show - Player Potential Fix Coming in Next Roster Update

Don't want to clutter this thread..but wondering if anyone knows how the potential grade of a player changes during a franchise. Is it based on player performance? random? Just wondering if anyone has info on that. Thanks.
